I have been in a car accident with a drunk driver and the driver was my uncle. His daughter/my cousin was in the car too. We we're coming home late one night from Toronto I had fallen asleep in the back seat behind my uncle and my cousin was sitting beside me. I don't know how exactly the accident happened because I was sleeping, all I remember is a loud noise I opened my eyes and my face flew right into the back of his seat.
My nose started to bleed because I popped a blood vessel; I got whiplash on my neck and back and had bruises on my body from the seatbelt. As soon as the car stopped I opened my eyes and started crying my eyes out because I realized what could have happened if the accident was worse. I was really thankful we were ok. The cops came and smelt alcohol on my uncle's breath. I looked over at my cousin and I immediately became furious. I had no idea he was drunk. When I got into the car with him I was so tired I fell asleep and had no idea. If I did, I wouldn't have entered the car to begin with.
I have a friend who lost a close friend of theirs to a drunk driver. I have another friend who lost both his parents to drunk drivers. It's not an issue I find humorous so many consequences could happen and the biggest one results in death.
Just please be safe and don't drink and drive. Don't think you drive better when you're drunk because people who are sober can see that you don't.
Be safe and don't be the reason why your life was cut short, or be responsible for someone else's!
