Thou shall not murder. This Six Commandment has rocked society from the beginning of human existence. If all murder was killing and all killing was murder, then there is no basis for the law. The principal focus for this commandment is not to determine if murder is a first-degree offense but understanding the spirit behind the command. This is a matter of life and death. Man is not the creator of an individual's life. Therefore, he is not given the authority to destroy another man's soul by murdering him. Often times, anger is the motive that drives someone to commit murder. Man must take control of this evil seed named anger that extends itself into murderous behavior. We have to go before the Lord in prayer asking for forgiveness and cleansing because our hearts are not always clean.
If one premeditates another's death, such a person should also be killed. The murderer is actually planning his or her own punishment of equal weight. Therefore, you can experience death because you choose to commit murder. It is a privilege for God to offer mercy to the heart of anyone who truly repents of any crime. At the same time, society must keep harmony.
Law and order are requirements for a society with peace and harmony. Criminal behavior requires punishment. Society has set up the court system to determine such matters. This is the basis for the law. The laws in the book will have to conduct justice.
You lose sight of God when you purposely and deceitfully degrade another person. Murderous remarks are also sinful and can destroy another. You should not remain angry with others. Choosing also not to judge by staying silent when you have the opportunity to correct someone can become the crime. It is our moral duty to protect the innocent and the society. Amen.
