Should Violence in video games be banned? This has been a question on many lips for quite a while now. Studies have shown that violent video games are the most popular games bought. Because of this, lots more violent games have been made. And each one competing with the last to be even more violent and appealing to more people. This is a problem.
For example these games normally would have a high age limit for the game. Games like the Mortal Kombat series and the doom series are games that are rated 18 years plus because of violence, blood and gore. However kids under the age limits get the games. From them they can learn to be violent and copy what they see. For example I have seen many people act out unsafe wrestling move they learn from games and all they need to do is copy one of the dangerous moves of their favorite character and they would easily badly hurt the person. That is what could happen if the moves got out of hand but sometimes things go too far.
This has happened, and has been recorded in America. One time two teenagers have got hold of weapons, such as guns, from illegal dealers, who don't care about age but want the money. They had stolen the money and went straight to the dealer. Once they left they went out and injured many, luckily none was killed but some seriously injured. They were reported to play violent video games a lot. Nothing is solid but many believe they were copying what they saw in the game.
This cannot be stopped apart from a ban on these games but then there is the argument that adults above the age limit still play video games and therefore banning the games would also mean that adults cannot play violent video games. So really all they can do to stop it is reconstruct something like the story in America and play the tape repeatedly behind the desk showing what violence in video games does to some people. Also leaflets should be given out to each buyer. Hopefully this will stop adults from buying games for children.
Some games are aimed at children with age limits below 11 and sometimes they contain just as much violence but not so much blood. The game Simpsons Hit and Run lets you run wild in car and on foot and beat up people and ram cars off the road. This is one of many games aimed at children but is violent because violent games are the most popular games bought. And companies realize this and make games like Simpsons Hit and Run to get even more money with a variety of games.
So basically some people believe violent games should be banned but they cannot do anything without seriously losing money from the games so companies would rather just keep them going.
I personally believe violent games should be still allowed as long as people follow the age guidelines and warnings.

I beleive that violent video games should be banned becuase if kids 18 and down or just anybody plays violent video games when jesus comes back all of the people who played or still plays violent video games will not be representin jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

i think that videogames can only make children behave violently because that child thinks that the game is real life, im 15 and i own games that are over rated for me but i play them often but according to alot of people and this is not my opinion is thats im the calmest, cool kid and ive certainly never been influenced too buy an m4 or do some crazy stunt i think to keep kids like my age fromnit doing these things is too educate them into knowing that videogames are not real (they shuld have notices that are REALLY PATRONISING!!!!!!!!!!!!)

nick, you say that it's the parents responsibility to guard the kids, but what if the parents don't have the time? in some countries the parents don't care. also, the kids might be influenced by the violent action moves and they would want to copy them.

Yeah, kids learn wrestling moves from VIDEO GAMES and not WRESTLING. Surely they don't like wrestling before they buy the games, that'd be insane. And yeah, I can imagine an 8 year old lifting another 8 year old over their head and throwing them like they were a ragdoll, it's really possible for kids to act out like superstrong bodybuilders.

Games shouldn't be banned, but regulated in a way that children are unable to get their hands on inappropriate material. To ban these games would be a violation of the First Amendmant, and an unconstitutional act. I've been playing video games of all kinds for 17 years ( I'm 21), and I've turned out to be a fairly decent individual. Don't punish the majoraty for the actions of a few.
