Did you ever wonder how monotonous life would be without its generous share of worries, failures and setbacks??? There would be nothing to look forward to. No challenge whatsoever to bring out the best in you. If it had not been for the problems in life, half the joys of staying alive would have been lost. It is these constant ebb and flow of trouble in our life that breaks the monotony and shallowness of daily living. Many a poet, including Milton and Coleridge have composed the most heart wrenching verses in the depths of despondency. No wonder greatness cannot be achieved, unless sorrow is experienced.
But this does not mean you need to frown on life at all times. Failure is just a stepping stone to success. So pull up your socks, and prepare to fight back. Turn right around and fight failure right on the face. Here are some simple ways to boost your morale.
- Do not brood over your failure. Instead use it as a means of inspiration to perform better next time. Remember when you hit rock bottom, the only way to go is up.
- Never compare yourself to others. Though this may be the mantra in management, life does not work on this formula. Instead set your own standards. No one knows you better than yourself, so set the level which you want to achieve.
- Reshuffle your priorities. Do not get over your failure. Use it time and again to find out what went wrong. Accordingly arrange your priorities. Maybe the last time, you concentrated all your efforts in just one part of the project. Move a step backwards and get the whole picture this time. Reallocate resources accordingly.
- Time: The most costly resource of all. Never waste it because it a moment lost is lost forever. Maintaining a time table of the activities is not such a bad idea. We hardly realize the time we spend on phone calls and lazing around with friends, or most commonly in front of the idiot box. Strictly cut out such expenses of time. Afterall success is all about compromises.
- Do not compromise though on your hobbies and passions. Take time out to listen to the music, paint a little or catch up with the latest Chetan Bhagat novel. Its important to loosen up because the stress of meeting deadlines may simply strangle the real you.
- Lastly and most essentially have faith in yourself. Believe that you have the capability to “just do it.” Every morning, look at yourself in the mirror and speak to yourself. The face staring back at you needs reassurance. Be generous. No one has ever achieved who did not believe he could!
So people, don't give up so easily. Winning is not only about winning the race. It also is falling over the hurdle, getting up and getting back on the tracks again.
