Finding Reason to Live

Will you be remembered after your death? What is the reason for your existence? Identify the reason and you will enjoy life.

The human race is characterized by diversity in form of ethnicity, color, geographical location, social habits, and traditions, among others. Amidst all these diversity, one has to ponder the question: What is the reason for being alive today? Exactly, what is your mission in life? Is it to mechanically go through the day-to-day routine, finish your years on earth, die, get buried and forgotten? Do you want to be remembered for leaving a rich legacy after you are gone from the earth? How do you want to be remembered?

Reasons for Your Living

Thus for life to be meaningful, each individual is called upon to stop, reflect and identify reasons for living. Find reasons for living will guide your thoughts, plans, action and habits so that your legacy can go beyond your grave. Some of the possible reasons for your being alive are to:

  • Radiate hope, light and love to others
  • Impart knowledge, wisdom and understanding unto others
  • Inspire the people that are closely and remotely connected with you
  • Strive for spiritual, emotional, sexual, and intellectual
balance in your own life and with those associated with you.
  • Seek the good for all in your dealings with others
  • Contribute positively to the eradication of poverty, disease, ignorance and other miseries that deny others the joy of living
  • Make a difference in the quality of life of others
  • Encourage those who are on the verge of giving up
  • Donate to the poor
  • Generate wealth by use of your inherent abilities and skills

Thus as individuals we have inherent potential that we need to activate and put to use as to live a fulfilled life. Note that you can only live a fulfilled life if you go out of your way to be of service to others. When you have given your all to make a difference in others, you get rewarded with:

  • Peace of mind that surpasses human imagination
  • Overflowing joy
  • Boundless love
  • Contentment and satisfaction
  • Wealth and riches
  • Constant connection with the Universal energy that runs through the entire human race

According to Rabbi Harold, “The purpose of life is not to win. The purpose of life is to grow and to share. When you come to look back on all that you have done in life you will get more satisfaction from the pleasure you have brought to other people's lives than you will from the times that you that you outdid and defeated them”. Thus invest more energy in serving and lifting up others rather than oppressing and ridiculing them!

What Can You Do?

Make a resolution to go out of your way to help develop a community of those who want to connect with each other. Create or join hands with a network of people with loving hearts and open souls so that collectively we can make a difference on this earth. That way, we would have achieved and justified the reason that we were borne and bred in the first place.
