Those who are fortunate enough to secure a copy of this publication will have the chance to examine themselves more closely, seriously, and for the purpose of ensuring that they make the best choice as to how to live their lives. For it is not as simple as doing whatever there is to be done. Life has a limited span in years. Most of those years can get wasted on useless activities. And people are not even aware about the value or lack of value of what they are doing. When Jesus Christ died on the cross, one of his parting messages is :"Father, forgive them. For they do not know what they are doing." Do people ever wonder why he said that ?
During a person's early years, he should learn to love God and people. For people who do not understand who is God, let me translate this as "The Right Way, The Truth, Life and All That is Good" for a person and his fellowmen, for his environment, including the universe. To love does not mean turning values upside down because it is obviously not the right way. Those who support malpractices, immorality, corruption, deceit, injustices, laziness, disrespect for rights, and so many other evil acts or decisions -- these are the people who become the burden of society, like a sickness that should be cured, or bacteria and virus that must be eliminated.
But we don't deal with them as though these people are beasts or beastlike. Even wild animals are supposed to be tamed. Such members of society should be discipline accordingly through the process of education about the right values in life. Perhaps the problem of our educational system is that its educators belittle the self-respect or self-esteem of most people who receive knowledge. Thus, educators also form part of the problem. They tend to lose sight of the main objective of education which is to draw the inherent goodness of every person, specially the youth. Instead, they focus on the talented few who excel according to their own criteria for who is better and best. And usually, the criteria is about test results. There are even educators who do not show respectable behavior, whenever they themselves reveal poor conduct, nasty words, negative thoughts, fault finding comments, etc. etc. etc. This is why software presentation can be more beneficial to some extent.
What about the attitude and discipline of those being educated ? No score. These are the more critical, more important values in life. Different people have different interests in life. One might fall asleep studying mathematics, but gets very excited with reading. The other can be the opposite. Yet both are good. What actually happens is that their scores will differ in various subjects. And educators will look down on poor performers. This should not be. What educators should do is provide the slower learners with a different way of absorbing the same knowledge in the spirit of love and care for their well being. Educators are however pressed by a system whereby they have to meet certain requirements usually based on volume of coverage rather than on the quality of learning, and definitely not founded on the objective of molding people to develop self-discipline, diligence, patience, positive attitude, obedience, and the many other values that should be inculcated while in schools.
How would I rate my students ? How should I build them up successfully and encourage them to learn some more by the time a subject matter is finished ?
60 % of the score should be in achieving the discipline required for a person to become respectful, respectable, industrious, positive thinker, diligent, self-controlled in body mind and spirit, and obedient enought to cooperate in order to meet desired goals. If 75 % is passing, that means the battle for excellence will be for those who can absorb more and at the same time capable of showing desirable attitude and behavior. This will tend to force almost everyone to behave the way they are expected to behave while the educational process is taking place.
In reality, after all, behavior and attitude are of utmost importance in the performance of an organization. Those who don't learn much are oftentime the same people who do not like to study or learn in order to grow, precisely because they did not develop the CHARACTER needed by our world to be highly productive. The story of a turtle and a rabbit out for a race tells the lesson that a turtle can win in the end. It continues to move forward however slowly whereas the rabbit keeps on fooling around during the race. But suppose someone nags or harrasses a turtle because it is slow, our world can be filled with rabbits who are good at fooling around very often.
And the weak would look oppressed by irresponsible educators. In reality, our educational system does not give scores for the development of the CHARACTER of the individual. There are those who even corrupt minds of parents and their children by favoring them when they donate substantial amounts. And those who have nothing to give find the struggle of their lives trying to understand why educators load them with ZERO care for their personal behavior, attitude, and so many other values that should have been molded in youth.
Someday, enlightened educators will realize the truth. Every person is born to celebrate life by living the right way. Knowledge can then simply follow.
