Happiness and Success 5

It is important to look way ahead in order to verify if the things you do nowadays will end up not in vain.

Children depend on the guidance and foresight of their parents. The discipline they develop while young should help them survive in a competitive world. In many cases, however, parents have their own agenda for their own satisfaction. Training of children may be turned over to schools. If the parents are busy most the time, whatever their children understand as right for them to do will most probably come from a more present environment in school. Will that make them better persons ? Maybe or maybe not. But in case of a failure, the parents are more responsible than their children. Some things cannot be purchased by money. If you have children, it is very important for you to impart to them your experiences and lessons in life in order for them not to make similar mistakes and so that they can make better decisions.

Unfortunately, for some families, children are maltreated not physically. There is an improvement in the present compared to the past when they are beaten up by elders with too much physical torture. Instead of just spanking for mistakes, their fragile bodies are pushed around or dragged even when they are not to blame or are simply innocent. Even the present maltreatment is not justifiable. Children learn from what they see, hear, feel, and do. Yet parents "nag" them. Sharp, offensive words destroy their peace of mind. Perhaps due to the pressures of work, they have to pour their anger at someone. And oftentimes, their children are turned into complaint departments at home.

A negative atmosphere is generated by anxious parents at the expense of their children's behavioral development. Soon the children become like their parents. If they have been hearing their parents cursing very often, they will develop the habit of saying the same curses even when they grow up. Thus, in offices where there should be professional atmosphere, new hires have difficulties dropping their habit of cursing whenever something goes wrong. Or the habit of quarreling and shouting can be observed in some uncultured groups of people. Parents are responsible for instances of divorce leading to a broken family, a sample prevalent in America and a source of culture shock for their children as well as future generations.

We need to build a society of Positive Thinkers. That means having strong characters with great patience to teach what is right and just, to promote good attitude at all times, to inspire other people towards higher knowledge and understanding. We do not need fault finders or instructors who are too lazy to teach before they start testing if what was taught was actually absorbed or understood. And even if listeners do make mistakes, they should be encouraged to learn from mistakes and then gain the right knowledge and understanding.

The time is coming when people will find it better to learn with computerized instructions rather than listening to education mixed with sad stories that have nothing to do with building up the knowledge of people. If ever, instructors should just be the sources of answers to questions that computers cannot answer.

I still have a picture frame with the following message ( no author on it ) :

Children Learn What They Live

If a child lives with criticism, he learns to condemn.
If a child lives with security, he learns to have faith.
If a child lives with hostility, he learns to fight.
If a child lives with fairness, he learns justice.
If a child lives with ridicule, he learns to be shy.
If a child lives with praise, he learns to appreciate.
If a child lives with shame, he learns to feel guilty.
If a child lives with encouragement, he learns confidence.
If a child lives with tolerance, he learns to be patient.
If a child lives with approval, he learns to like himself.
If a child lives with acceptance and friendship, he learns to find love in the world.

Depending on what the child learns, he lives day to day. This is consistent with the idea of "What you sow is what you reap." What instructors teach is what will be learned and possibly utilized. In projects wherein desired knowledge and skills, attitude and performance are expected, it will be possible to develop programs that instill whatever should be taught. Computerized programs have the advantage of being fixed and not mixed with unnecessary talk that cost time and money. If we want people to behave in a certain way, we can develop programs that show them models of what are desirable. And then repetition of similar experiences can "clone" more positive thinkers, good performers, accurate thoughts, and people with the right attitude, right expressions, right belief.

With foresight, we can be guided to forego with short-lived sources of happiness in order to gain the more lasting rewards. Parents can control themselves for the sake of their children. Instructors can remember to be careful with the way they teach as their behavior can be copied by listeners. Negative thinkers can breed more listeners into negative thinkers. Unclear thoughts or policies can create confusion.

With foresight, we can develop computer programs that provide the best standard training. And instructors can serve as administrators of such focused educational process. In such "software" programs, the contents can be 100 % positive if not partly neutral. Done consistently over months and years of ongoing education and training, the mind will not be exposed to multiple controversies about issues outside subject matters, but only oriented towards what it should focus on.

With foresight, the chances of lasting happiness and success will be much higher.
