The Question
Computer Addiction...is it really possible? can the computer, for some people, become a drug?
The Answer
from my observations is a startling YES! many people spend 70% of their day or more, working/surfing/or gaming, online. In many cases the computer becomes a crutch, people begin to believe they cannot function in their daily lives without it.
People spend millions per year on the latest games, software, security features and upgrades for their computers, always seeking to make them faster, safer, more efficient or more fun. For some people, they spend such a vast amount of time online that they begin forfeiting time with friends and family. This can be a dangerous thing.
The Solution
The solution is easy when we think about it. Ask yourself was I closer with family and friends before I got my computer? Is the computer my main source of social interaction(meaning are most of my friends chat buddies?)
Do not get me wrong, online friends are great, as long as they are not your ONLY friends.
Anyway, If the answer is yes to any of these questions then take time to re-evaluate life, necessities, and priorities. All in all, my advice (and I don't mean to step on peoples toes) is get out into the real world, meet and greet, do something in your community,
it will do wonders,Sunshine misses you, now Go!
There are some people that spend too much time on the computer. Anything can become an addiction. It's okay to point out things that people need to realize. You may have sowed a seed in someone that might decide to change. Keep writing.
