Life is Too Short To Not Fully Live

The things we excuse ourselves from and why that isn't right. We should be doing everything.

Respect, money and a great life. The best way to get ahead in life is quite simply to have a lot of brains. You get good grades and get a good degree and you're set for life. But as far as muscle, who cares? That's absolutely worthless, as long as you don't need a forklift to get out of your house your doing just fine. Which brings us to today's quote.

“You can't half way live a full life.”

-Ethan Glover

We always place a higher purpose on certain things. Brains over muscle, family over friends, work over fun. There are always certain things we morally choose over others. Which is fine, getting your priorities straight is very important. But sometimes it's a little much.

Knowing what comes before what is important but the key word is before. You can't just choose the top priority and claim you don't have time for the rest. That's not only incredibly wrong but also incredibly stupid. It's called time management.

There are 24 hours in a day and 16 are gone for sleep and work which leaves a whopping 8 hours left. It seems like nothing at all, I know, but you only need 3 more of those hours for learning, exercise and eating. Which gives you 5 hours for flexibility and entertainment. But exactly how are you supposed to spend those three hours?

One hour on education. To teach yourself about anything you're curious about or anything random. This could be to watch something on the Discovery or History Channel or to do a little research on the internet or to read an informative book. It's important to keep your mind sharp to keep you on top of your game and to keep you interesting, witty and suave in any conversation.

One hour to exercise. To keep your body in good condition and shape. It is important to keep yourself in shape well enough to perform not only everyday tasks but the occasional tough stuff along with it. Besides muscle is a form of intimidation, not only can keeping in shape GET you out of fight situations but KEEP you out of fight situations.

Next, one hour on eating. To some eating is a quick, medial task such as going to the bathroom or taking a shower but it shouldn't be. It is important to make sure you follow the food pyramid. Not some crazy get skinny quick scheme. You must stay healthy and never neglect vital vitamins, nutrients, or any other element. If that means cooking, so be it. That's why cook books are made.

Now, the rest of those hours, the five left over still seems like very little. Especially since most of it is spent driving, hygiene/looks, talking and errands. And that is why we have weekends. To relax and catch up with things. So just try not to get a seven day a week job.

Of course that being said we all have our excuses. We can say we work more than eight hours, we have family to take care of, meetings to go to. You know, whatever. But nothing is getting done while you complain.

Sometimes I think to myself and wonder why we complain about things to friends that we'd never complain about to the person that controls those things. Why we complain about authority figures only when they're not in the room.

We're all humans and we're all living in the same world. With a little cooperation and openness we can relieve so much unwanted stress. Which is the final thing we must exercise about ourselves.

Being mean. Sure niceness and politeness, it's all good and well but, like I said, you can't just choose the top priority and claim you don't have time for the rest.

It's all about time management. Take a couple minutes to put in a complaint, to get things taken care of. Take a couple of minutes to tell your boss or authority figure what you think of him. Don't be afraid, unless you're rude about it, there's no possible way he can fire you just for submitting a complaint in person. If anything he will gain respect for you. Cojones are very important in this world.

Doing and experiencing everything is extremely important. Life is full of billions of ideas and philosophies and it all branches from the “philosophers” the wannabe revolutionaries. Just stay simple and avoid “alternate thinking” if at all possible. Just do as your parents told you and use your time wisely and you'll be fine.

Life is short because days are short. 24 hours isn't enough sometimes. When you think about how much time is spend doing everything everyday it's hard not to wonder if it's all worth it. Just remember, man' only purpose if to have a purpose. Keep working, keep learning and keep moving. These three ideals can swiftly move you through life with happiness and joy.

Ignorance is bliss. I suppose that's the lesson I have to give. Live life like it's supposed to be lived. Don't think, don't try to be creative about it, just live it. Life itself is what makes life worth living. Adding in the extra stuff just cuts down time forcing you to only half way live life.

That, as I always say, is today's quote.
