Yoga is a word that brings out a mixed number of reactions. Some people will say that it is a good way to clear the mind and some will say that it is unchristian. Some wonder why people would waste their time and others wonder why so few people do it. Yoga is a way to relax and stay in shape. It is a group of exercises that are meant to do a number of things. There are exercises that are meant to help build strength in a non-strenuous way. There are some that are meant to help you relax. Almost all of them are meant to increase flexibility.
Those who are spiritual and are looking for something that can help them relax and to reach greater understanding may find the answer in Yoga, although not in the way that many people think it will. It is a group of exercises that is meant to relax you and release chemicals throughout your body that stimulate the brain and release toxins from the blood stream and the muscles. You have to look at the many physical attributes of stretching and exercise.
For instance, sweating is a form of releasing toxins from the body, stretching properly can have the same effect as a massage and relax the muscles and release toxins from the muscles. Stretching alone can increase blood flow, reduce blockage, release toxins from the muscles and the bloodstream, and release natural endorphins. Endorphins are the chemicals in our body that make us happy and increase brain activity. If you don't believe that, then try stretching just before you study. These things combined with drinking water will leave you physically cleansed and relaxed and mentally aware with the neurons connecting,
These are just some of the effects of Yoga. Other effects include flexibility, which makes it less likely that we will get injured and when we are injured it won't be as bad and we will heal faster. Cardio exercises increase blood flow, slow down our heart rate during normal conditions, and open up our lungs making it easier to breath. Yoga also provides muscle building exercises. The upside is that it won't hurt as much to bend over; you will be stronger allowing you to do more, and leaving you in better health so you won't have as much of a reason to be grouchy. Now can you think of a good reason why you're not doing Yoga?
