One of the Largest Life Decisions One Will Make

How will you spend the rest of your life?

Is natures simple beauty being pushed aside and lost to the forthcoming of technology?

It seems people these days would much rather stay at home and sit on their behinds, instead of going for a walk, jog, bike ride, or even a drive. People seem content with sitting in front of their TV's, and computers.

Why do so many of us find it a chore to leave the house and use our bodies to get around?

People have become to self contained in their own little worlds, which of course is what we've been led into by society, but we must have the strength to break out of this trend from time to time.

I personally hate the concrete jungle we call cities, and the suburban hell that I find myself living in. I would give anything just to leave and live off the land somewhere, but that'd be a pretty hard thing to do these days, since there aren't many places you can go to do so with our expanding population.

Nature is slowly being lost. All around us there are apartment buildings and condominiums being erected, population density is rising at an astounding rate and I find myself feeling quite claustrophobic in my day to day life. I look around myself and realise how far we've come in the past lifetime, realising that my grandfather came down these streets in a horse and buggy at some point in his life, and it is only going to become much more congested over my lifetime.

Living costs have jumped skyward in the past 30 years, and yet, incomes have in fact been lowered in many places. As a rather young individual I look around and ask myself everyday, “Do I really want to spend my entire life earnings on a place to live here?”, and the answer is, “most definitely not”. I don't really believe that the quality of life in the future generations here will be all that comparable to someone who can pay off their house in the first couple years of moving out, and then continue just living off their income, not having to worry every month about paying out $5000 just to keep their house.

The cost of living here just seem too unbearable for me as a person just getting to his “adult” life. In the next few years I plan on getting away from the big city, and buying a large chunk of land, maybe 50 to 100 acres or so, somewhere affordable where it'll only cost me about a 1/5 th what it would for an apartment here. I'll try to live off the land more so then not, raise chickens, and plant trees on my acreage. This wont only make me happy, and make life worth living to me, but it will be much more gratifying and laid back than living in the ongoing rush and growth of a large city, where it would take my entire life to only just be able to live comfortably.
