People travel for a variety of reasons. It may be for pleasure or it may be for business. It may be to visit family or it may be to pay respect to their deceased loved ones. But most often we think of travel as something pleasurable, something that we like doing.
Years ago people traveled less then they do today or should I say be were less mobile. They may have traveled shorter distances to get to a governmental office or visit a close relative but today with the increased means of taking a trip more people go farther and for longer periods of times. The days of adventurers and explorers are over. So we can all be adventurers if we want to by contacting a travel agency that will set up a trip to a relatively isolated part of the world.
- People travel to improve the quality of their lives and have been doing so for thousands of years. From the time that nomads became aware that living under certain climatic conditions meant they would have better means to feed their families there was a need to move to those better conditions. Nomadic lifestyles still exist today as they did centuries ago.
- Today people still migrate from more impoverished regions of their countries to more industrialized parts in the hope of finding better employment. Anybody familiar with the stratification in countries like Spain and Italy will know what I am talking about. For decades people have been migrating to larger northern centres in order to change the quality of their lives.
- People travel to reunite with their loved ones, to meet their future spouse or to rekindle some kind of personal relationship. So there is an emotional reason for wanting to travel to meet someone.
- People travel for enjoyment purposes and that is to get away from the hustle and bustle of a busy lifestyle and enjoy the comfort of quiet surroundings or the comfort of a place that allows them to relax.
