The Art of Happiness

Dalai Lama's approach to life. How we can be happy.

When I knew the Dalai Lama was coming to my city I wanted to read up on what he had to say.

To seek happiness is to seek what life is all about; this is the Dalai Lama's teaching. The Dalai Lama is a Buddhist monk who does public talks about life and hope.

Happiness deserves a lifetime of study and the journalist in this story is willing to follow the monk to hear what this all means.

Above all through life seek happiness and not self-satisfaction. He believes you will find ultimate happiness. In other words “What are you good at?”

The Dalai Lama believes in society wellness. You must be stable and persistent.

What is intimacy?

To me intimacy is the close bind we have to each other.

Happiness can sometimes be a spontaneous process. The roots of the Dalai Lama's beliefs as a monk are peace and compassion. Prayer was important.

Happiness was ideal whether religion was a belief or not.

Compassion is free from attachment. The two fields of Merit give close ties to the Buddhas. Doing things in clear conscience.

The Dalai Lama believes you must set meditation against anger. Anger to him is like arrows shot at us.
