Certain principles which must be upheld to enable someone to win friends easily. To command respect and speak effectively in public, certain quality has to be possessed.
Discover who you are
In layman terms, there are two broad temperaments namely the introvert and extrovert. The introvert is taciturn, quiet, reserved, shy, and more comfortable when lonely. On the other hand, the extrovert is loquacious, noisy, very outspoken, never comfortable with loneliness, and very humorous.
Learn to make people happy
Try everyday as you can without expanding anything in return. You will win people's love as you develop the habit of helping people most especially for the fact that it is recommended by God.
See something of praise
There is no perfect human on earth and you will always see things that will make you avoid people as you critically examine their deeds and attitudes. To get people along, you have to neglect the negative aspects of their life as if it doesn't exist.
Learn to control your temper
The oxford advanced learner's dictionary defines temper as condition of mind and emotions. Some people easily lose their temper with the slightest provocation. I have heard people say “you know I have hot temper”. That's nonsense! It is not your property but rather the devil's. What you confess is what you possess. Don't be proud to say that you are hot tempered, but rather resent it.
Master depression and discouragement
The most powerful force in this universe is a positive thought properly used. Someone cannot overcome anything until thoughts are properly used. As a child of God, you are still in this world physically, but you are not of the system of the world. That is, you do not operate or live your life according the system of the world. You operate according to the system of God.
Learn to be humorous
In order to make friends easily, you have to develop yourself to be always happy with people. That is, you have to always put up a joyful countenance. Even though you are an introvert. You have to force yourself out of it and behave like an extrovert.
Keep a neat and tidy environment
“Cleanliness is next to Godliness”. To make friends and make people comfortable with you, you have to keep yourself and your environment neat and tidy.
Learn to accommodate people
In order to make friends easily, you have to learn to accommodate people of all walks of life. You have to desist from all forms of discriminations, tribalism, racism and egocentric tendencies. If you dislike someone, take a piece of paper and try to make a list of everything you can possibly admire about that person. Try to increase your list on this individual from day to day. You would soon discover you will begin to love the person.
Be honest with people
There is one thing that destroys relationships and that is dishonesty. When you cheat a man today, he will disseminate the dealing to more than twenty people who knows you that will from then determine to be careful with you or completely avoid you. To make friends and attract favor from people, you have to be honest with everyone you come across. Learn to uphold your integrity. Avoid lying habit. When people discover that you are dishonest they will avoid you. Integrity is truthfulness. It is doing what you say you will do.
Control your tongue
You are rated by your words. The tongue is the channel through which every verbal communication flows. These words has the power to attract or discard a relationship.
