Why Not Take the Blame?

When we make a mistake, the first thing we do is defend ourselves and point our fingers into somebody else. Sometimes, we have to learn to admit our shortcomings. We are the captain of our own ship!

Blaming is a common practiced performed by almost everyone of us. Anytime, anywhere, when mistakes are committed, no one accepts the failure. But rather, points a finger on someone else. In school, blaming is very recognizable. This is an unacceptable yet undeniable fact.

For instance flunks an exam he makes alibis and pinpoints someone who he considers as the cause of his failure. There are usually three groups of people from which a student chooses who to blame. Fist in line are our teachers. The clause “because Ma'am / Sir didn't discuss the topic well” is an overly used term which students utter when they get low grades in quizzes and such. Second option is our friends. Some students give in to pier pressure and have a night - out with their friends right before the test date, thus, disabling them from last minute scanning of books and getting a good night sleep to have the mind in good condition during the test. Expectedly, these students would feel drowsy while answering and would not be able to solve problems correctly since they did not prepare for the exam ahead of them. The third option for students is their families. On might reason out that he flunked the test because hid brother was very annoyingly noisy, etc. etc. etc.

Aren't you tired of hearing or making pretty alibis? Because personally, I'm about to break out and long have I been wanting to shout out loud saying, “Enough already!” What's wrong with you? Give? Can't you just grow up once and for all? Instead of blaming school people, why don't you just admit that you made a mistake? It's hard, I know I've give when a big blames too. But come to think of it, there is always something you can do. If you don't understand what your teacher is blabbing in the classroom, raise your hand and ask him/her to explain it again. Teachers are always open for question. If your friends ask you out, you can simply reject the invitation and tell them that you have to study. They might laugh at you, but you'll have the last giggle when you get results than them. As for families, little brothers could really annoying sometimes. But don't let him stop you from studying. Lock yourself in your room. Forget the world for a moment and focus on studying.

Life is what you make it. There might be temptations and unwanted situations that could bring you down. However, this paper firmly believes that success is self-motivated. Who you become is your choice though the world loads you with numerous options. Like what William Ernest Henley quoted in his writing entitled Invictus, “I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul.” So, I suggest that you stop blaming and start working!
