A stocky muscular build, Morgan was 90kg, and 5'10”. The intense desert heat and exposure to chemical agents during the war afflicted him with some mysterious disease. Once he returned to USA, he could not resume his civilian duty at the Pentagon.
He went to his commanding officer and explained what was happening to him. The commanding officer took him to the CMP (Chief Medical Practitioner) to see what could be done. The CMP and other Military doctors observed Morgan over a period of time to probe into the various symptoms. They recorded that he had nervous breakdowns, loss of focus and fading memory, shortness of breath and susceptibility to common infections. Since this disease had no cure the CMP took Morgan to a Military scientist and with Morgan's consent began performing experiments on him.
The scientist injected fortified synthetic blood into Morgan's body, to increase antibodies and the supply of oxygen to his nerves in treating his present ailment. Morgan was responding well to the treatment. After some weeks, Morgan's skin became very taut and thick as if he was coated with some silicon material. He gained enormous strength and was able to lift items five times heavier than him. Taking a few blood samples the scientist found that Morgan's blood was highly radioactive, but it didn't harm his body. This meant that he could survive nuclear attacks. After putting Morgan through many tests it was determined that his skin was the hardest material known to man, since it could pulverize diamonds and tungsten. It had an extremely high melting point, to which the temperature required to melt Morgan was far beyond the reaches of modern human science. He had become extremely malleable but could not be hammered into a new shape, and could conduct high amounts of energy, electricity, and heat through his body.
The scientist noted that Morgan was feeling no signs of weariness; he claimed that he was so full of stamina he didn't need sleep. The scientist was both jubilant and perturbed by the developments. His findings could improve the cause towards the betterment of humanity, but on the other hand he had destroyed a man's chance at a normal life. Morgan untroubled by his new appearance said to the scientist “Even though I have become an experiment, a testing ground for new breakthroughs, and the damage done is irreversible, I give my body to your cause and command.”
The Military received information on a terrorist incited nuclear explosion in a New Jersey port, which had wiped out the population in the surrounding parameters. Someone who could withstand, and investigate the radiation levels had to be sent. None other than Morgan was deemed fit for the job. He attired himself in a protective suit as an additional precaution. When he got to the port he was devastated by the massive destruction caused by the terrorists. The local marine environment was obliterated and docked ships were blasted apart, sinking into the watery depths below. Morgan traced the radioactivity to a damaged ship nearby. On it there were tanks containing nuclear fissile material. He reported to the Military officials and they came to remove the destruction as Radioactive Man.
