For hundreds of years, many countries in Asia have been fighting non-stop with certain predominant weapons. The following weapons, Sword, Katana and Spear are the most historically dominant weapons of Asia, as all of these weapons have helped their countries to succeed many wars and conquer over large amounts of land. But one of those three is superior comparing to the rest.
The katana, one type of Nihonto (Japanese swords) is usually the equipment of many warriors in Japan and also symbolizes honor amongst the Samurai. Katana have been a famous weapon in Japan but they aren't as flexible or as useful as other swords because they aren't as sharp on both sides like the sword. They are also not as long as spears and are not able to create any katana walls like the spear walls that would be able to block or attack enemies easily. Katana are also a lot heavier than a sword in China, disabling the ability to quickly switch from attack to defense or defense to attack. From the points mentioned above, the sword is superior above the katana.
Swords, a common weapon used by China, have been present in many different battles and are also a symbol of power, justice and courage. A Sword is a straight blade with the tip as the shape of triangle with sharp edges on both sides. This can be a huge advantage when attacking an enemy that does not have a weapon that has sharp edges on both sides such as katana; since the sword can easily change direction without reducing the amount of damage done to the enemy. In China there's a saying about swords that goes like this:It takes 10 days to swing a spear, 100 days to be an expert with a blade but 1000 days to expertise with a sword. This saying stressed the importance of skill in mastering the sword, but does not necessary express or stress the idea that spear and katana can be wield without skills. Although swords are sharp on both sides, requires a lot of skills, but comparing to a spear, a spear is considered better. Although the sword has many unique types of uses, but a spears are superior above these because of its deadly tactics and long range.
Spears, a long weapon with a sharp dagger attached on top, are the most powerful weapon out of the three mentioned, mainly because of its long range and deadly uses. Spears have been praised as the King of Weapons in China ever since it was used. Spears can be used in many different ways; a few of the most used ways are creating a spear wall to defend against the coming enemy troops or simply to charge at the enemy. These tactics are extremely useful because of the damage it causes and the toughness of the defense. In addition to their tactical advantage, spears are also great in combat; they have a long range with a deadly point that can take enemies' lives with one attack. One can also stand before many because a spear can be used to swipe of enemies in a certain range in front of you, which can be used when in peril. These are all things that swords and katana do not have: tactics, long range, and the ability to take on multiple enemies together.
Spears are also not weapons that can be mastered with just strength, as many ways of using a spear developed over the centuries can prove this. Some ways such as Zi-Long Spear was used by Zhao Yun in the battle of ChangBanPi to save Liu Bei's child on his own, The Yue Fei Spear used in defeating the Jin for many years before the fall of the Song Dynasty, The Spear of the Zhang Fei was also used during the battle of ChangBanPi when Zhang Fei stood on the DangYang Bridge and scared off thousands of troops, other ways of using a spear has also been created over the centuries. The ways that has been listed above, shows that the spear cannot be mastered only with strength, but also skill. All these points show the difference between spears and swords and katana, making the spear superior to the rest.
All the weapons that have been mentioned have fought under their countries as great tools, and one of them, the spear stood out from them because of its superior features and uses such as creating a spear wall, their deadly long range, and the amount of skills required to use it. Although in many other countries, there might be other weapons (Such as claymores) that can be matched with the spear but in terms of traditional Asia, the spear is the superior weapon of the three dominant weapons of the continent: Spears, Swords, and Katana.
