Spring 2008 Fashion: How to Add Color to Your Wardrobe

Spring will arrive with a burst of color. Are you ready? Here's how to add color to your spring 2008 wardrobe.

As spring 2008 makes its appearance this year it'll explode in an array of dazzling color at least from the perspective of the fashion world. Stores and boutiques will overflow with brilliant orange, daffodil yellow, brilliant blues, and hot pinks, just to name a few of the shades that will be gracing pants, shirts, blouses, dresses, and accessories. If you've always had a neutral wardrobe, this color implosion may feel a bit foreign to you. You shouldn't feel tempted to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe based on the trendy colors of spring. Save your money and discover some easier ways to add color to this spring 2008 fashion wardrobe.

Choose your colors

Chances are not all the colors for spring 2008 fashions are going to flatter you. To add color to your wardrobe, select a few trendy spring colors that will look good on you rather than trying to wear every hot spring color. To find colors that compliment your skin and hair, pay a visit to your local fabric store. Chances are they'll be carrying many of the spring 2008 colors on their fabric bolts. Select colors that are going to be popular for spring and hold them up to your face. When you find colors that work for you, ask for a small snippet of fabric to take with you for future shopping reference.

Assess your current wardrobe

Using your fabric swatches, determine which of the colors you've selected will coordinate best with your current wardrobe. Take into consideration the colors you'll feel most comfortable wearing and which are the most likely to have long term appeal. Yes, yellow may be hot for spring 2008, but are you going to be enthusiastic about wearing it next year? Consider the long term appeal of the shades you've selected. Now that you've narrowed your color selections down to a very few choice shades, it's time to go shopping.

Shop for your spring 2008 fashion items

Take a free day to hit your favorite department stores and boutiques and find new fashions that will add color to your wardrobe. The object is to buy only a few pieces that will coordinate with what you already have but will still have long term appeal. If you don't feel comfortable wearing large blocks of color, consider adding a few colorful scarves, a colorful pair of shoes, a belt, or a handbag in one of the spring 2008 fashion colors. You can also stick to accessories in the colors you've selected for spring. Would a colorful belt and handbag give your basic black pieces an appealing burst of color? Another option is to buy a few silk shells in the colors you've chosen to coordinate with your basic suits. If you're feeling more daring, go for a dress in a bright shade. Don't go overboard and buy more than one. Chances are you'll tire of it after the season as styles change. Be sure to use your color swatches to help you make intelligent selections.

You should emerge from your spring 2008 fashion shopping trip with a few new items to carry you into spring with flair. And you did it without spending a fortune!
