Do you believe in ghosts, ghouls and spooks, and things that go bump in the night?
I do, but I’m not talking about the typical horror film type of scary haunting with spooky creatures hiding in cupboards and behind doors, just waiting to jump out and get you. These are the stuff of kids stories and Alfred Hitchcock movies.
What I believe in is a kind of residual energy that is left behind when someone dies. It’s like having life energy but not having a body to contain it in. What puzzles me about this phenomena is that it doesn’t seem that everyone goes through this kind of disembodied spirit thing. Maybe everyone does but we are only made aware of it in some cases.
Regardless of the explanations that various people have given for them, the only thing that I am certain of is that these ‘things’ exist’. There are the TV ghost hunters who make such a theatrical production of the whole thing that it makes me wonder just how much is artistic license (to put it politely), but there have also been some well documented cases where ordinary people have been literally scared stiff by apparitions.
At Fotheringhay Castle , Northamptonshire, England, paranormal investigators claim that a number of royal ghosts walk the floors. Among these is Mary Queen of Scots. However, the same lady is said to walk the rooms of Carlisle Castle, Cumbria, England. Puzzled? So am I!
However, there are many cases of ordinary ghosts startling people. I know of at least four people who would honestly claim to have seen a ghost. I firmly believe that I saw one, many years ago. The incident was witnessed by two friends who were with me, but, oddly enough, the third one saw nothing.
This is certainly an intriguing subject. There is a real photograph of a ghost ‘spaceman’
