For centuries people have made claims of paranormal activities that involve a “spirit or a ghost.” Everybody has heard of either one or the other, however, one thing many people do not know or realize is that there are several types of haunts.
- Residua. This is the type of haunting that is most commonly reported. The typical “signs” of this type of haunt is repeated actions, sights, sounds, and smells. You can think of this type of haunting as a tape recording. It is a memory imprinted that will play itself over and over. Quartz, limestone, other minerals, and strong emotion are things that are thought to cause a residual haunting. These spirits are not really there, just a portion. These spirits will not interact with you or even take notice if you are there. They are going to do what they do whether you are their or not.
- Intelligent. This haunting is more of what people would say a ghost is. This is when someone's spirit is there. These spirits can and usually will interact with people through sight, sound, smell, talking, touching, and any other way.
- Poltergeist. This haunting is NOT like what you see on the movie Poltergeist. A poltergeist haunting is characterized by sounds and moving objects, for the most part. This is usually a mischievous spirit. Usually when this haunting occurs there is a female adolescent in the house. Theories have been presented that since younger kids have more energy it is either their psychical energy causing the haunting or their energy giving access to a spirit to haunt.
- Inhuman/Demonic. This is, in my opinion, the worse type of haunting. In this haunting it is caused by a spirit that has never walked the earth in human form. And no that does not mean that they were an animal. Many religions call this a “demon.” These are malicious spirits that are out to harm. Characteristics of this haunting are foul smells, threatening and harmful activities, harmful physical contact in extreme cases, and an overbearing feeling of dread, fear, and helplessness. An incubus can also be classified in this category. An incubus will seek sexual contact, usually with a woman.
I believe that people are only afraid of “ghosts” because they do not understand. I hope in writing this people will be less afraid and more understanding.
