I do not know why, but most people have a certain thing about the unknown. Whether it is the unknowns of life, death, UFOs, murders or legends, some people just have to know the story and try and figure out the outcome. In part one of this series, I will write about some cases that have unknown endings. Some will be frightening, some will be brutal and some might even seem funny but all are true stories.
David Tomlin
The early life of David Tomlin seems to have gone as smoothly as anybody else. Normal childhood, normal life and everything that goes with it. He was born to two school teachers and he would later follow in their foot steps. Early on in his life though he kept having dreams about a little girl who came and talked to him and seemed like a nice ghostly figure at first. This is where the diary starts. The first entry was on November 17th 1931, he was 18 years old. As months passed on, he would dream of this girl every nigh. For two year he kept writing about what he had dreamed and what that little girl said to him. On the night of December 12th was his last entry about this little girl. It seems that he had trouble falling asleep and when he did, the little did not come to have a nice chat as usual. What is written is that she came and she started to threaten David about how he would kill her later in life. As the diary goes, this would be the last time he would hear from her… Until that fateful afternoon in 1950.
The Party
The night before he attended a party of a friend, David and others gathered in a bar and only came out at the same time as the sun. David, who didn't sleep all night, went home showered, ate and went to his friend's party. After a good birthday meal and a couple of drinks, David decided that it was time to go. He had work the next day. Many people who saw him at the party did indeed say that he looked very tired. After about 30 minutes of driving, David fell asleep at the wheel. While asleep, he hit a little girl who was playing on the side walk with her brother. He woke up, got out of the car and saw something that would mark him forever. The little girl that was lying dead on the ground looked exactly like the little girl in his dreams.
Aftermath
What happens next is a little weird and sketchy. David disappeared 4 days after. People who have investigated this only had his diary and friends to rely on. Here it goes:
It seems that when David got home, he was a bit traumatized by the events. Even more so since the little girl that was dead looked exactly like the one in his dreams. It seems that David fell asleep on the couch and had a dream about the little girl. Was it the little girl from his childhood or the other, it is not known. The little girl came with a warning, every time David would fall asleep, somebody he loves would die. This is what he told his sister who had come by the next morning to see how he was doing.
The first night, David stayed up pretty much all night writing in his diary about the events that had happened to him in the last two days. In the early hours of the morning, he fell asleep. He woke up in the afternoon after hearing his front door almost smashed in. George, his friend, was at the door in a panic. He was there to announce that his parents had just died in a fire at their house.
The second night, he did try to stay awake. He wrote in his diary every fifteen minutes just to have something to keep him awake. That didn't work. The next morning, Police arrived at his house to tell him that his sister had died in a car crash while she was presumably heading to his place.
Disappearance
Again, not much is known. The day his sister died, he left the house never to be seen again. Some speculate that he just left to start a new life. Others say that a family curse had taken his life. After seeing his diary, his friends are pretty sure that if what is written is true, David went far away and took his own life to save what, what left of his loved ones.
