Sad to say, whenever an honest person encounters a dishonest person, the dishonest person will almost always have the upper hand.
It is human nature to attribute our own traits to others. A person who cannot fathom wronging another in a particular manner does not suspect another’s ill will.
A dishonest person, then, may just as easily project his negative characteristics on to his victim, and thus rationalizing that his victim deserves to be treated wrong.
An honest person believes in truth and a hopeful person believes in miracles, thus an intelligent swindler knows that he can offer the world on a silver platter and that eventually he will have some eager takers gladly give to him their complete trust and life’s savings for his gift-wrapped magic beans.
Honest people beware--the charlatans know exactly how to work their magic spells on you.
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Ask for everything in writing. Check with the Better Business Bureau and the consumer protection division of your local attorney general’s office. Caveat emptor.
