Is there something in the water in Hollywood? It seems as if there is a divorce every week. I’ll focus on four divorces that were announced recently. It’s no coincidence that infidelity possibly played a role in their divorces.
Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown
Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown were married for 13 years. They have one child together. For years, these two have been rumored to be getting a divorce. They were practically living in a public fishbowl. The paparazzi were constantly handing. They dealt with a lot of obstacles in their marriage. They dealt with drugs, alcohol, Bobby’s constant arrests, his infidelity, and his physical abuse against her. They separated years ago, but got back together shortly after. I had a feeling things were going to go downhill for them once they did the reality show Being Bobby Brown. Neither one of them were shown in a good light and their marriage looked to be in trouble. There were a lot of people who predicted their marriage would end, but they kept defying the odds. Rumors were swirling once Bobby’s sister did an expose on Whitney to the tabloids about her drug use. When Bobby didn’t publicly defend her, it was as good as over. It probably didn’t help how there were rumors that he was seeing another woman. According to reports, he was living with author/video vixen Karrine Stepphans. Bobby was rumored to have had an affair with her years ago. Now there’s also a rumor that Karrine is pregnant with his baby or his eldest son’s baby. I guess Whitney couldn’t take anymore and she decided to end the marriage. I think this was a good thing for her because she decided to get her life back together and focus on her daughter and career. I wish her all the luck with this because I would love for her to make a comeback.
Sara Evans and Craig Schelske
Country singer and Dancing With The Stars contestant Sara Evans and her husband Craig Schelske were married for 13 years and they have three children. I am not really familiar with this couple, but I have read reports about infidelity in the marriage. According to reports, Sara claims that their children caught Craig looking at pornography. She found pictures of Craig having sex with other women. She also claimed that he had an affair with their children’s nanny. Craig has also made claims of her infidelity. He has accused her of having an affair with country singer Kenny Chesney as well as her Dancing With The Stars partner Tony Dovolani. This situation caused her to drop out of Dancing With The Stars early. She wanted to be closer to her children during this time in their lives. I think this divorce is going to get messier and it will only hurt the children in the long run. I never saw her in the tabloids so much until she filed for divorce. I hope this isn’t a publicity stunt to get her face back out there.
Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe
Resse Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe were married for seven years and have two children. Recently, Resse filed for divorce. I’m not surprised that they are getting a divorce because her career is hotter than his. Like with Whitney, Britney, and most lokely Sara’s marriages, she was the bread winner of the family and that was probably going to take it’s toll on their marriage. He has a respectable career, but hers is skyrocketing which could have possibly lead to his rumored infidelity. It’s a shame to see their marriage end because they made a nice couple. Until recently there weren’t too many reports about their marriage being in danger.
Britney Spears and Kevin Federline
Who in the world didn’t see this divorce coming? Britney and Kevin just celebrated their two-year anniversary and the marriage is over. Considering the way they got together, this divorce was inevitable. Britney should have had an idea about the kind of man he was when he left his pregnant girlfriend in order to be with her. There were so many reports about their marriage ending way before she decided to file for divorce. She continued to deny that there was any trouble in the marriage. As with Whitney and Bobby, their marriage was highly publicized. You couldn’t pick up a magazine without seeing their faces on it. They were also on a reality show based on their relationship. The show was called Chaotic. Was that symbolic of how it really was between them?
There were reports of Kevin constantly spending up her money as well as partying. There were also reports of his infidelity. This shouldn’t have surprised Britney because he cheated on his girlfriend for her. I wonder what could have lead to the divorce. Could it have been the things I mentioned before? Could Britney not have had enough faith in his ability to be a rap artist? It’s not coincidence that she filed for divorce right around the time when his cd was released. Was she tired of supporting him? Did reading the tabloids about him being “Mr. Britney Spears” finally get to her? She should be thankful that her mother made her get a prenup or else he would have been able to take her to the cleaners. According to reports, he wants custody of their two children as well as spousal support. I think this divorce could be best for her and her children. With him out of the picture, she could concentrate on her children and her career instead of worrying about Kevin’s antics.
These were my thoughts on four highly publicized divorces. There were so many divorces, but if I listed all of them, this would be a very long article. I can only imagine how many divorces will happen in the next year.
