Do Celebrities deserve privacy?

A look at how much privacy a celebrity really deserves.

I think everyone deserves privacy, but what celebrities don't deserve is the expectation of privacy. Everyone should know that once you become a celebrity you are not going to have any privacy. If they don't know it they should. You see it everyday on TV, in newspapers and magazines. Once you are a celebrity your privacy is gone and celebrities should already know that going into it.

When a celebrity is working their way up, they want the attention even crave it. But, when they become a celebrity and are in the thick of it, they want and crave their privacy. As a celebrity you can’t have it both ways. Celebrities are in a catch 22. Because of the nature of their jobs, celebrity is forced upon them, it’s part of the job even and that comes with a no privacy tag. On the other hand, celebrities want privacy in order to enjoy family and friends, but in order to get that privacy they most give up their celebrity, which could mean the lost of their jobs.

Some celebrities understand that the lost of privacy comes with the territory so they grin and bear it and don’t complain. For those celebrities it’s “I wanted fame and fortune and this is the price I have to pay”. But there are those who complain that they can’t go to a restaurant and have a nice meal without someone bothering them or they can’t go shopping without having to be in disguise or they can’t go to a public bathroom without being asked for an autograph. Again I say you should already know that, it’s been that way for years.

I agree that people go to far invading the privacy of celebrities, slipping paper under a bathroom stalls to ask for an autograph, paparazzi hiding in trees trying to get bedroom pictures of celebrities on their private property, but still this all comes with being a celebrity and they know that. The only celebrities that I feel have a right to their expectation of privacy are child celebrities. Many times they haven’t asked to be put in a position to be a celebrity and even if they did, they wouldn’t know entailed the lost of privacy, I doubt they would even understand it.

As I said before everybody has a right to privacy, but once you become a celebrity your privacy is gone. Is it right? No. But, will your privacy be lost? Yes.

Maybe there should be more peer pressure amongst fans to ensure stars privacy. All this stuff you are saying is just rationalizing rude and invasive behavior. EVERYONE deserves privacy, including celebrities!

Everyone has a right to privacy, celebrities or not! no one should be held prisoner because of they\'re fame and fortune.

it shouldn't be that just because someone is talented at sports or at acting or singing and they want to pursue that, they automatically sign away their privacy.

You mad the comment that they should know that they would no longer have privacy. People know that this is true, but I am sure they do not know to the extent that other people go to envade the privacy. You also said that celebrities want to have privacy to enjoy family and friends. The way your opinion sounds it that they are not allowed this priveledge, well what about the family and friends are they allowetd the priviledge of privacy if so how come they are shown along with the celebrities, do we really need to know how a 1yr old spent her birthday. She is a child who has no say. Yet the press is all over Anna Nicole Smiths baby. Do we have the right to invade this childs life?
