Get Rid of Being Self Conscious

Are you constantly stressing over your appearance or how other people see you? Do you think everyone is staring at you and judging you? Chances are they aren't. You are just self conscious. Here are a few ways to deal with being self conscious.

?The whole world is staring at me! I must have a huge zit on my face. Did I gain weight? Are people staring at my huge thunder thighs?? Many of us are constantly worried about our appearances or the perception of ourselves to others. Being self conscious can get in the way of our daily lives and inflict mental damage onto ourselves.

By being self conscious, we can easily be distracted from our activities to worry about our appearance or self image. Being in a constant stage of self consciousness can easily lead to depression and can be very annoying. In some cases, being self conscious can lead to destructive feelings. By using some of the methods provided, the feeling of being self conscious can become a distant memory.

Remember What is Important to You

Keep in mind that the opinions of others on your self image, personality, or appearance are what they are. They are just opinions. You are your own person, they do not control you. If you personally like what you were wearing or how you acted, do not let the opinions of others affect your decisions in the future. As long as you like whatever you are doing, the opinions of others should not matter.

Listen

Usually, you only see the imperfections in yourself while others cannot see anything at all. Chances are, you may not be stressing over anything. If you have trouble with remembering what is important to you or if you have trouble being confident on how you look or act, look for support from others. Block the negative comments and listen to the positive ones. Listen to the comments from the people that are most close to you. Your best friends or your family members. Your loved ones will tell you the truth if you look them in the eye and ask for a sincere answer.

Empathy

Empathy, is to imagine yourself in someone else's shoes. If you are worried about how you look, use empathy. Ask yourself ?If I saw someone else wearing that skirt, what would I say? What would I think? Would it even matter to me? Would I even care?? That is one effective way to overcome being self conscience. Ask the simple question, ?Would I even care?? chances are, when you realize it, the situation that you are stressing over becomes a funny situation. Most of the time, the situations we stress over the most are the situations that others never take notice of.

Self Consciousness, Just a Memory

By following the methods, your self consciousness will soon disappear. If the feeling does not go right away, that is fine. Remind yourself of these methods whenever you feel that you are beginning to feel self conscious. All you need to do is to remind yourself of your positive traits. Overcoming self consciousness is different for everyone. For some people it may come right away, for others it may take longer. Sooner or later the feeling of being self conscious will be a thing of the past.
