Larry Flynt, the infamous publisher of "Hustler" magazine is one of the most controversial figures in America.
Some call him a champion of free speech for his satirical commentary and stands against censorship,
still others call him a filth-monger for what they see as "obscene and lewd content in his publication."
So the question is, Larry Flynt, hero or villain?
To begin with, it all comes down to perception, as they say one man's trash is another's treasure.
One persons idea of obscene may well be another's idea of artistic.
I believe Larry has made us think, however controversially about the issues of censorship and free expression as a whole.
I believe also that simply standing up for what one believes in shouldn't be grounds to be called obscene.
After all, nobody is forcing anything down anyone's throat because ultimately it comes to personal taste and not a matter of law.
If a person disagrees with something, they have that right.
If someone chooses to like something, they have that right as well.Neither can be or should be restricted.
In the Film the People Vs. Larry Flynt it was stated best in these words "Free Expression Is Absolute."
So agree or disagree,In America even unpopular speech is protected by the 1st Amendment.
Larry Flynt, hero or villain? You decide for yourself.
