My grand father Don is a professional truck driver. With all the freight shipped daily across the country it is easy to forget that there are hard workers behind the wheels of these huge eighteen wheelers making shipments possible.
When I was about four, my grand father was the man I took on as a role model. Hard working, dedicated and quite literally driven my grand mother and the rest of the family used to joke that the only way he'd give up driving was when they pried his stone cold fingers from the wheel.
I believe the dedication shown by these drivers is often taken for granted. They are to me however, forgotten working class heroes.
Millions of miles of highway between them and their destination
they work until their bodies energy is physically spent.
My grand father loves his work. No truck driver could endure the grueling hours they do unless their hearts are in it.
If you know a truck driver, you know what I mean. Shipments to warehouses, shopping centers, and many other places. These people are the ones who make your shopping excursions possible. They ship all the necessities and things we enjoy.
Every time we go to the local mall we should think of them. Please do not take these truck drivers for granted. Thank them if you meet one. They don't ask for much, but a little appreciation never hurts.
