Why is it that people that do not experience many things in life seem to be happier people? Unlike the people who get exposed to many experiences are unhappy because they are looking for the next thing to exceed the previous experience. For instance, when I was eight years old, my family and I went to Disneyland for the first time. The experience was heaven on earth at the time with the rides, the characters, and the different themes as we walked around the park. However, by the third visit to Disneyland, I was looking for something more.
The more lead me to travel to another state then out of the country, then before I knew it, I had traveled to twenty five states, thirteen countries in Europe, five countries in Asia, Canada, Bahamas, and Guam by the age of twenty seven. On the other hand, a person who grew up in a small town of two hundred people, where the biggest event was the annual rib roast off will be in nirvana with driving to a national park to camp for the summer and not wanting any more for the rest of the person’s life. Whereas I, am always looking for the next exotic country thousands of miles away from home that I will be going too. It is a slippery slope that ultimately leads to topping off your previous experience. At what point will I be satisfied with my yearning to be exposed to as many things as possible.
