The power is in your hands. If a difference is going to be made in this world, let alone in your own life, it is up to you.
This life is complicated, but if you can see through the games people play the way becomes clearer, especially if you see your way through your own games.
Not only do we have to endure the manipulations of others, intentional and subconscious, but we must overcome our own manipulative and misleading mannerisms, most of which lay beneath our conscious understanding.
Let us look at behavior in a simplistic fashion. You have a task to do. Not an impossible one, but a challenging one nonetheless.
Accomplishing this task, let’s say a report you have to do for your job—this report means the difference between a promotion and getting fired.
On a conscious level you want to finish the report—even write the most magnificent piece of professional business literature the world has ever seen. But, what is buried inside of your mind is years and years of you telling yourself that you are a failure.
As a result of this programming your mind will ultimately obey, and you procrastinate, and find challenges where there need not be any.
So it goes with humankind; we make mountains out of molehills for ourselves and for each other. Sometimes, and some would argue more often than not, life’s challenges are set up to part us from our hard-earned money and to maintain the status quo, keeping the minority rich and the majority not so rich. Sometime people place hurdles in our way because since they could not accomplish their own goals and achieve their own success, they don’t want someone else to succeed.
In a simpler light people prefer that others stay in their particular role. We don’t like change. Change, for better or for worse, takes us away from what we know and there is very little that is more frightening than the uncertainty that comes with the unknown.
But, the fact remains, most of life’s challenges are self-constructed. It is a matter of evaluating your perspectives, taking action when you need to, and becoming aware of and eliminating our self-defeating behaviors.
The power to overcome any personal obstacle is in the hands of the individual, and the power to change the world even, resides within us all.
