Bill Cosby is my favorite! I grew up on his first sitcom produced in 1969-70. I used to like Carlin, Pryor, and Murphy, but can't stand their foul mouths.

You are totally kidding. None of these people could hold a candle to the great vaudeville-based comedians such as Groucho Marx, Jack Benny, Burns and Allen, Eddie Cantor, Fred Allen, etc., etc., etc. This list is a total farce.

The Top three comedians to date are Richard Pryor, George Carlin, and Lenny Bruce...there is no arguement...every comedian along with anyone who actually knows the history of standup will say these three make the mount Rushmore of comedy

i agree with standup writer....how is lenny bruce missing?? and roseanne barr outranks mitch hedburg? bill hicks was a huge influence, definitely one of the greatest if not one of the top 3. worst. list. ever. bill murray is also way funnier than ellen degeneres and roseanne barr.

when creating this list it is important to know its not a personal list...the comedians on the top ten are there for their influence...this list presented in the article is wrong....the order at least...some stated had great potential like hedberg, however the influence is skim due to his death....top ten comedians are the top ten most influential to the art of comedy...not to yourself late one night while searching for cable porn
