Many Christians will give almost anything to help others, tracts, bibles, etc. But other than the Word of God, what do you do about one of the greatest gifts you can give anyone?
For over 55 years of my life I was stingy in this area. My comfort was more important than what I could give to help someone else. If it had been money someone would have preached to me that I was wrong. But for the most part the church is silent about this one very important thing. And I was never challenged to do it.
Then a few years ago our church hosted a blood drive. The pastor mentioned that this was one of the best ways someone could give (assuming they were able). I took up the challenge and signed up.
That evening I showed up and had the pleasure of meeting another member of the church I didn't really know. He was a recovering wimp too. We gave together and we have become close friends. Something good beyond the two pints of blood came from that evening.
If…
1) You physically cannot give without risk.
2) You have a condition that prohibits you from giving.
DO NOT GIVE BLOOD.
If…
1) Your reason for not giving is time
2) Your reason for not giving is fear
3) Your reason for not giving is as lame as the ones people use for not giving in an offering or coming to church
MAYBE, just MAYBE, this is your time.
The songwriter said, "as he died to make men holy let us die to make men free."
Allow me to say, "As he gave His blood that we may have eternal life, let us give of our blood that men and women may live."
God bless. I hope this moves someone to give.
