The evidence fits with the assumptions that the earth had a mild temperature and that the environment was different from today in order for plants to grow so well. If plant fossils exist almost at every corner of the earth, we can conclude that it must have been wonderful to have such conditions and luscious colour in the early creation. If Adam and Eve did live during these times, it must have been perfect in the Garden of Eden and almost perfect when banished from it forever.
Chapter 3 Creation of the Sun, Stars, and Moon
The fourth day God made a lesser light to rule the night (the moon) and the brighter light (the sun) to rule the day. He also made the stars that were for seasons and signs – Genesis 1:14. Its interesting that the bible refers to the stars has signs. For what sort of signs were the stars used? Scripture does not leave us to ponder at this alone for it says in Psalm 19:1-4:
“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows his handiwork. Day unto day utters speech and night unto night shows knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their LINE (constellation lines?) is gone throughout all the earth, and their words to the end of the world”.
If we take this for what it is actually saying to us rather than putting it aside, we can say that the heavens and the stars were designed to speak to humanity. We have no information regarding what the ancient people 3000 years ago considered the stars to mean and since, people who worshiped them and who associated them with mythical legends have distorted their signs. Today, the stars are used as horoscopes and star signs for symbols, but are these things just another effort to lead us away from their real meaning?
Just as God used signs and symbols to represent something other than itself such as the trees in the Garden of Eden or the rod Moses used as a sign to Pharaoh, the stars could be used in exactly the same fashion it wouldn’t be unusual for God to do this as He said. We are told in Psalm 147:4, “He tells the number of stars; he calls them all by their names.” God gave Adam the task of naming all the animals that Adam would have easily done if he was pre-programmed from the hand of God, but God reserved naming the stars himself. The bible is a mystery and the deeper you look into it the more truth you uncover which you will find in this book, so maybe God like many of His ways hides a secret message in the stars and their meanings. For the ancient people near the beginning of creation its message could have been profound yet mystical.
For instance, Orion’s belt could be a prophecy of the Messiah that there would be a redeemer for all of humankind from the fatal sins that condemn people and separate us from the creator God. Therefore, we would once again be reunited with God as from the beginning we turned away from him in our ways. Before the flood, fathers could have recounted the heavenly portrayal of the stars and their meanings to their sons of this hope that one-day humankind would be saved from condemnation. An account from a Jewish historian known as Josephus says that Adam’s son Seth and great-great grandson Enoch first told the story in the stars. Josephus is a meticulous Jewish historian scribe and the events he has recorded have usually been correct. This story may be as it was.
If you doubt any of this, the stars near Orion’s belt makes up an image that today exists in horoscopes and star signs. It is of a man who has a club in his right hand and the enemies head in his left, which is of a lions head with its body behind it. His left foot prostrated up in the air as if to stamp on the head of the lion that he holds in his left hand and the club and sword in His belt to batter it and destroy it. The image looks as though the man is ready and waiting for His victory over the lion. We are told in Genesis 3:15 that God will put enmity between Eves descendent who is referred to as a man and the serpent who is referred to as the devil or Satan. We are told that Eve’s descendent will bruise Satans head but Satan’s descendents will bruise the heel of the man, who is clearly Jesus Christ the Messiah that was to come. This is a prophecy of the death of Jesus who defeated sin and Satan but who died on the cross.
