People do some pretty amazing things for love. In the story An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge by Ambrose Bierce the main character Peyton Faruhar is just one example of the length some people will go to for love. I this paper I will discuss what love is, why people fall in love, how love effects people, and some crazy things people do while their in love.
Love is a very tricky and misleading subject. First to understand the feelings of love a person must know what love is. Love is defined is a strong affection or liking for someone or something. It is human nature to want to find, and be with someone and to grow old with that person. Some people call that person a soul mate and it is also know as the lust for love. Many people believe in love at first sight, but they are mistaking love for lust. One way for a person to tell the difference between the two is that with lust the person is just attracted to the other persons body, but if they are in love not only do they attracted to the body but also the mind.
Why is love so important in most peoples lives? Because most people do not like to be alone could be one answer. Another could be that people like to have someone to talk too, and someone to share their lives with. This is why people get married. Marriage means to unite or to join as husband and wife. This is the biggest way one person can show their love for another. The majority or the people do not feel whole, until they can find a significant other. Someone to be with them when they have a problem in their lives and to help them through the ruff times and grows old with.
Love affects people in many different ways. Some people say that a person knows there are in love because they get a warm fuzzy feeling inside their chest. Others hate to be apart from there loved ones for a long period of time. Love effects not only the person but every thing in that persons lives going from there feels all the way too there amount of determination. In the story An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge Faruhar goes as far as to defy death just to see his family one last time. Faruhar is just one example of what people will do for there loved ones.
People do a lot of crazy things just to keep the attention of their husband or wife. For example in San Diego a man named Michael Smith torched a sandwich shop, a house, seventeen cars, and a boat. Why did he do this? His reasoning was I only did it because I loved her, he said. Smiths girlfriend Tammy Jo Garcia told him to burn the cars of people that she did not like, and some because she wanted to see them burn. Smith got a sentence of four to six years in the big house.
