How many times have we heard the term “Money is the root of all evil.”? Funny how people are so evasive of facing themselves. They are so used to casting the blame on others. If something is working well for them or if they find themselves in a bind, it's almost automatic (3rd nature - breathing is 1st nature, telling a lie is 2nd) to point our finger and blame it on others. So how come such a gentle soul can in one swoop turned into a vicious, monstrous ego-driven person? What convenient way to cast the blame on “money” itself. Wait a minute, money?
How can something that can provide for a family's needs be termed as evil? How can something that can help put food on the table be coined as evil? Just like “fire”, how can something we use to warm people during cold winter nights, or something we use to cook or heat our food be evil? I think it's about time we human beings start to take responsibility and acknowledge that the real source or root of evil is really “us, human beings”.
Everything depends on how we use it. Nothing is harmful as long as used in moderation. Addiction (or obsession) to something/ or someone is the real killer. Drug is one of greatest invention of mankind yet see what it can do once used to the extreme.
It's the user who separates what a thing can lead to: Good or evil. Computer game is a good diversion, a glass or two of wine is good for blood circulation, but how many people out there were destroyed by computer-games-addiction or how many alcoholics led to broken-families? Let's add the latest fad: text messaging. If used properly, text messaging is a very positive invention. Consider that it is used to convey God's words, help us keep in touch with friends and loved ones who are far away. Yet how many families were destroyed from 1 simple text message (not to mention the green jokes we are all so fond of)?, then we start labeling “text-messaging” as evil! Then there is about this “music” thing. Unless we start to take responsibility for all this (instead of blaming it on things that cannot survive without human control) we will forever be trapped in this vicious cycle of finger pointing and ignorance.
