What Good is Philosophy?

Although many people do not realize it, philosophy has practical value for our everyday lives and should be enjoyed by all.

Philosophy is considered by many as something which is meant only to be studied and pondered, not to be applied in real life. In fact, a lot of people think that there is no need to apply any sort of philosophy in real life, as it seemingly has no real life value whatsoever. However, this is a misconception as philosophy is a way of thinking which can make your life better.

Philosophy is not just limited to theory as it has always been about practical things in life. A lot of people think that philosophy is best restricted to books and theories. However, the ultimate aim of any philosophy is to find the ultimate truth, something which can be done by anyone who has the quest to do so. If you take a look at the wide range of philosophies all over the world, the only connecting factor is the search for the ultimate truth. The search can be within the human mind or outside of the human mind, but the search has always been there.

Before you think of applying philosophy in your real life, you need to understand what it actually means. Each philosophy has its own way of thinking and when applied to real life, it can have an effect in your day-to-day actions. Even the simplest of actions, when seen through the prism of philosophy, would seem to have a different purpose. So, applying a certain philosophy is not possible until or unless you believe and know that the particular philosophy is the best suited one for your life. In order to do so, you need to do some soul searching.

To find out what kind of person you are, you need to look inwards and search through your mind. Once you have found out what kind of person you really are, what do you like the most, what kind of attitude you have towards life, and what is your ultimate take on living, you can apply that kind of philosophy in your life. While this may sound complicated, it actually is very simple.

Your inner voice is your best companion in these issues. Everyone is born with certain inclination. You can be a theist, atheist, agnostic, skeptic, pragmatist, realist, nihilist, or rationalist Ð ultimately, there is a philosophy associated with everything and you can always safely assume that you are the living proof for that philosophy. Once you have realized your philosophical inclination and live your life that way, your life would seem much more meaningful and fuller, as now you have a purpose and a way to attain the purpose in your life.

I agree with this piece of writing so much that i don't even think i could put it into words.

I bet if someone was to simply change the name philosophy to something else and keep the concept exactly the same all these dumb Neanderthals who don't apply it would start to because their petty misconceptions would be gone.

I noticed though that when writing it seemed a little over bearing and if someone read this who does not apply philosophy to their real lives, they would feel like you are trying to change them and just stop listening. I always try to make my self seem on the same level of intellect as the person I'm trying to convince so that they will conceder what I have to say fairly.

It hasnt worked really well, but its worked better then just preaching at them if you know what I mean. Thats just as far as I can tell anyway. Anyways, I liked your writing.
