When that dreadful day happened we all were brought to our knees asking whichever God we worship to give us the strength to make it through the weeks to come. Now when we really think about it and look at the facts that are laid before us we wonder “was it all really necessary.” There was plenty of quotes from several high up representatives including:
“I don't think that anybody could have predicted that these people would take an airplane and slam it into the World Trade Center,” from National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice.
“There were lots of warnings'” from Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.
“No warnings'” from Press Secretary Ari Fleischer.
“Your government failed you, and I have failed you,” from White House Advisor Richard Clarke.
The only question I have is, why are these officials of our government not in agreement when it comes to the safety of this nation. In the following text you will find some very interesting facts that can be viewed all over the web but I have decided to compile it together in one place so we all can see what really happened that day.
On 3/13/1962 Lyman Lemnitzer Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff presents a proposal to Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara called operation “Northwoods.” In this proposal is was suggested that we stage terrorist attacks in and around Guantanamo Bay to describe pretexts which would provide justification of US Military intervention in Cuba. Plans included starting rumors about Cuba using clandestine radio. Landing friendly Cubans in the base to stage attacks and to start riots at the main gate. Blowing up ammunition inside the base. Starting fires. Sabotaging aircrafts and naval ships. Bombing the base with mortar shells. Sinking a ship outside the base entrance, then staging mock funerals for the mock victims. Staging a terror campaign in Miami, Fl and D.C. And finally the worst of all, in my opinion of course, they were to take a plane, paint it and number it as a duplicate of a registered civil aircraft belonging to the CIA front in Miami. The duplicate plane would be loaded with college students on vacation. The real plane would be converted into a drone aircraft. The two planes would fly to Cuba where they would rendezvous south of Florida. The passenger carrying plane would land at Eglin Air Force base to deliver the passengers then return to it's original status. The drone would then pick up the scheduled flight plan and over Cuban waters send out a “Mayday” signal then be blown up by remote control. McNamara rejected this proposed plan followed shortly by the removal of Lemnitzer personally by the US President JFK.
On 12/1/1984 a remote controlled Boeing 720 takes off from Edwards Air Force Base and is crashed landed by NASA for fuel research. The plane flew for a total 16 hours and 22 minutes before it was crashed. Which also included 10 take offs, 69 approaches, and 13 landings.
8/1997 the cover to FEMAs emergency response to terrorism depicts a picture of the World Trade Center in cross hairs.
2/28/1998 the global hawk completes its first unmanned flight at an altitude of over 32,000 feet over Edwards afb.
1999 NORAD begins conducting exercises where a plane was flown into the world trade center and the pentagon.
6/2000 the Department of Justice releases a terrorism manual where the world trade center is depicted in cross hairs.
9/2000 the project for a New American Century which includes Dick Chaney, Jeb Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, and Paul Wolfowitz release a report entitled “Rebuilding America's Defenses” in it they concluded that the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one. Unless some catastrophic and catalyzing event like a new pearl harbor happens to awaken the public.
On 10/24/2000 the Pentagon conduct the first of two training exercises called NASCAL, which simulate a Boeing 757 crashing into the building. Charles Burlingame an ex navy f4 pilot who worked in the Pentagon participates in this exercise before retiring and starting his new career with American Airlines. Less than 1 year later the Boeing 757 that crashed into the building just happened to be piloted by him.
4/2001 NORAD proposes an exercise where a plane crashes into the pentagon but it is rejected due to being to realistic.
6/2001 the Department of Defense submits new instructions for the military intervention in the case of a high jacking. All immediate responses must get approval from the Secretary of Defense before the DOD assists. During this same time frame Attorney General John Ashcroft begins flying chartered jets for the remainder of his term due to threat assessment from the FBI.
