Crime in America is rampant. How do we change this? What can we do? Who is at fault? Wow!! If you can answer these questions, well, you know. I suppose if one wanted to know how to stop crime, what steps to take, and who to blame; we have to look no further than ourselves. Yes, you heard me. It is important to note, that society causes so many problems and continues to endorse more.
How? By simply allowing criminals second, third, fourth, and more chances. Having such disparity in Federal vs. State laws. For example, a Federal drug related offense, will get you easily up to twenty years, but only months or a few years for State charges. A Federal murder crime will get you life without parole or even the death penalty, yet many States allow twenty years, out in thirteen for good behavior. What is that? Yes, I blame all of us for such hypocrisy. We are the voice of change, but we do not invoke our rights. If you want crime to be solved, it goes beyond lack of parental involvement with educators; it goes beyond educator’s unwillingness to teach properly, it goes beyond the politicians angling for votes; it goes beyond all of these things. The fact is, we the people, who have the power to invoke change in this country do not. So look at your Local, State, and Federal politicians and if you don’t like what is happening in your neck of the woods – Vote ‘em out!!
