Burning the American Flag has been ruled constitutionally protected by the United States Supreme Court. The court ruled that burning the flag is a right protected as freedom of speech. However, does it make it right to burn the American Flag?
Americans are passionate about their flag and some display it proudly on their houses and on the cars. To some burning the flag is an insult to those who died protecting our freedoms and some would say that this is the reason is why burning the flag should be a protected right in America . Do you believe that burning the flag is a form of free speech or discretion to all who died?
Individuals will argue that burning the flag is a form of protest against the government and a way to show discontent with either the policies of the government or the government's total disregard for what the people want. One might argue that if someone is unhappy than they can leave America . This argument is very simplistic and narrow because disagreement amongst people or against government does not mean they are not Americans. Should flag burning be banned as a form of speech and as a form of protest?
Should politicians continue to try to add a constitutional Amendment to make it illegal?
