Despite the fact that these snakes are cast from the same mold, they pretend to be polar opposites and adversaries.
Let's talk about the tough guy bit that both groups love to play. Is anyone really impressed by a self-proclaimed tough guy? For those of us that live in the real world and don't hide behind an army of bodyguards, nobody is tough. No neck has been made that can resist the bite of steel. Usually, when someone is doing all kinds of huffing and puffing about how tough they are, you can rest assured that they'd be the first ones to flee from the first sign of danger, or if cornered, soil their designer pants. Can you imagine any of these politicians meeting the criminals they want to be so tough on alone, somewhere secluded, and still running their mouth? They would quickly change their tune and be quite friendly and submissive. As to these tough rappers, they usually break down and rat on all their guys the minute they get into any serious trouble. A hot mouth should never be misconstrued as a sign of valor. What are their deeds? Getting shot? So if my house cat goes out and gets shot by some punk kid, he's now eligible to be a gangster rapper? The idea, fellows, is to avoid getting shot. I've known clowns in prison who'd been shot and liked to brag about it. The thing is, if you knew these guys you'd understand why someone would want to shoot them in the first place. It certainly wasn't because they were tough.
Regarding rappers and politicians being pseudo-revolutionaries, the reality is that both groups serve the status quo. The politicians do so in a more obvious fashion, claiming they'll be the ones to bring about the needed changes, while accepting millions in campaign contributions to keep the wheels greased for the powerful. The most amusing side-show has been the promise by politicians to change the culture. What makes politicians qualified to orchestrate a cultural revolution, is not something the media has bothered to ask. At the very least, these highbrow politicians should have been asked if grantingpeoplethe gift of culture was in fact better than providing them with such things as affordable health care, good paying jobs, a clean environment, etc... Why bother with such trivial things though, when our leadership is fighting culture wars for us. Oh my!
Be not deceived, cultural revolutions occur as a result of social changes caused by inventions, discoveries, or works of art that by their magnitude, good or bad, force people to change how they perceive the world they live in, and therefore modify their behavior accordingly. For example, the Industrial Revolution in England resulted in a cultural revolution. Through each generation, much of the populace moved to the cities where the work was, which led the English people further and further away from the Puritanism of the previous era. What great works or inventions do our contemporary politicians offer us to change the culture? New Laws! Under that ideology, the ideal culture could only come to exist under a totalitarian regime, where the culture would be imposed by political leaders. That's what happened in Germany when Hitler was in power, and that's what's going on in North Korea today. In a free nation, culture is created by the people and reflected by the government, not the other way around! The quick fix of passing laws to change cultural problems demonstrates a complete ignorance of culture's role in a free society.
Meanwhile, the rapper parades around as a revolutionary, opposed to the government and politicians, voicing dissent over their oppression and folly, giving hope for glory to the unfortunate black youth. Deception, ignorance and bondage! Realize that politicians, especially Republicans, could dream of no greater gift than rappers as a propaganda machine to show the public why they want all these laws, cops, and prisons. Politicians and racists could never portray black people in the manner that rappers do with such evil tact as to glorify abusing women, using and selling drugs, and committing acts of violence like battery and murder. While politicians and racists publicly ridicule rappers, in private they would kiss them on the mouth for the job they've done. The racists are obviously delighted to see rappers encouraging the self-destruction of their own race, especially the youth. Pat yourselves on the backs, morons! You're doing a great job as the mouthpiece for the KKK.
Despite America's imperfections, if a child stays in school, avoids crime, and tries their hardest to succeed within the framework of the system, that child has as much if not more of an opportunity than do most of the world's children at living a decent life. The rappers who encourage children to buck the system are not only not giving the system a chance to work, but more importantly they are not giving the children a chance to be successful. This should not be surprising since without rap, most rappers would be failures themselves. For most Americans, the biggest obstacle they will face in their life is their self. If you avoid shooting yourself in the foot by getting into drugs and crime, your chances for success are pretty good.
