Attila, the Hun warrior king who sacked Rome and brought the Empire to its knees is seen from many perspectives. Some see him simply as a barbarian with bloodlust and too much time on his hands.Others however see him as a hero that brought down a country that was falling into political chaos and a country that was too corrupted by greed.
Where exactly Attila and his people originated is hard to say, but some say their descendants occupy present day Hungary. It was said that Attila was "the Scourge of God". Part of the reason for this moniker was the fact that no other person at that time, either Barbarian or Civilized dared to challenge Rome's status in the world.
Attila did it like he was a child playing with a new toy.
There are some speculators who have stated that the Huns were Turks. While most of the world knows Attila by name, differentiating the legend from the man is a difficult task indeed.
Attila saw Rome as just another arrogant land to be conquered while most of the world saw Rome as the threshold of civilization.
One Roman Emperor, Caligula makes me wonder how Rome stayed so powerful for so long.
He was a madman by all accounts, Nonetheless it is surprising that despite the corruption and arrogance that Rome displayed, before Attila the Roman Empire was considered by most the greatest on earth.
Much like America today, Rome became arrogant, and as we all know "Pride comes before a fall".
I Love America as much as anyone, but we need a drastic overhaul.
If we are not careful, we may end up with our own "Attila" ready to rattle us up and humble the arrogance of our nation.
Just food for thought, this country really needs to quit being so self indulgent and corrupt.
Especially our politicians and leadership.
