Something to Think About Regardless of Party Affiliation

Disagreements, Party affiliation, Bad behavior, Rumors run a mock.

After reviewing the current status of the candidates running for nomination in this upcoming presidential election, it occurs to me that the American people need to step back and really, really think about what has been happening.

We have John McCain running on the republican ticket who many thought would never make it this far. He is, apparently, the only republican candidate winning it all and still standing, so to speak.

I tend to admire John McCain because he has pissed off as many republicans as he has democrats. He does seem to take his own stand, no matter with whom he is disagreeing. Just when you think he is a Bush clone, whammo! He breaks from the ranks and does his own thing. I like that in almost everybody!

Then we have two front runners in the democratic party. These two individuals have been behaving as though they are from opposing parties. They are at each other on every level. They both have so much to gain, and so much to loose. I speak of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Let me dissect that for you.

She could be the very first woman president of this country. Now, admit it, that would be an accomplishment for "any woman". If she doesn't make it this time as the democratic candidate, she very likely will end up having to run against another woman in the future. That is probably not a good thing to Hillary. Thus, she views this as a "must win" situation.

Then we have Barack Obama who could likely be our very first black president. If he doesn't win the nomination he will have to time to gain a lot more experience, become more familiar with foreign policy, gain some wisdom with age. In general, he will add a great deal more to his qualifications for such an office as President.

It's hard to believe either of these candidates would agree to run as the Vice President to the other. I believe there has been too many below the belt punches for them to run as a team. As it is, they will have to continue working together as senators, and there are already some long lasting bad feelings which will need to be overcome.

And so, the point here is, while Hillary and Barack are beating up on each other, they are handing over votes they should be trying to gain for themselves. And who are they handing them to? Why, the republican… John McCain. How stupid is that?

My overall observation of the entire proceedings so far is that most of the politicians involved are behaving badly. They are attacking their own party policies as well as the candidate. This does not bode well in assessing what actions can be expected from any of these candidates in the future. It leaves a bad taste and raises questions about where party alliances lie in the scheme of things. They display ill temper, contempt, and they are willing to make outrageous accusations against each other. Some amount of fighting between political parties is expected. In-fighting between candidates of the same party is inexcusable.

And now…along comes Mr. Nadar. Oh, my! What will happen now?
