In President Bush's State of the Union Speech there were many key points that he made. The first one that he made was that they have to balance the federal budget. One way that he was hoping to do this was by spending money wisely. Another way he hoped to do this was to reform budget processes. The next key point of his speech was that the government has to help failing schools and to help students who are having trouble in school by increasing funding for them. Another point he made was that we have to fix health care.
They need to have private health insurance and pass a medical reliability act. The next point of his speech was that they have to come up with better boarder laws. They have to pass an immigration reform. Another of the President's points was that we have to reduce gas usage by twenty percent in the next ten years. The major issue the President spoke about was the War in Iraq and on the terrorists. He stated that we have to establish a counsel for the war on terrorism. He wants to increase the number of troops in Iraq by at least 20,000. Also, he wants to increase the active army by 92,000 in the five years. The last point was that he would like to help the people in Darfur and also all of the oppressed people in Africa. Those are all of the points made in the State of the Union speech.
I mostly disagreed with the point that the president made about the war in Iraq. I believe that we should not be sending 20,000 more soldiers over to Iraq to fight. I believe that we should do the exact opposite. I believe that we should send home at least 10,000 soldiers because it would give the American people hope that the rest of the soldiers are going to come home too. I also disagree that we have to increase the army size by 92,000 troops. I believe that most of the fighting that will be done in wars will be mostly technology based and wont involve the use of troops.
I believe that in future wars the ground forces will become obsolete because you could just drop nukes and missals onto a target and they would be destroyed. The only thing I do agree with the president on is that we should create a counsel for the war on terrorism. We need a good group of people who can make the right decisions, win the war and get the heck out of there. I strongly disagree with the President's ways to go about the situation in Iraq.
