The Article No One Will Want to Read

These are the things no one will want to hear.

I am an American Soldier. I hold my head up high when I walk down the street. Do you?

I am in Iraq right now, serving not only as an American, but also as a Christian. I love my God, my Savior, my family, my daughter, and my country. I love every single military member that is over here with me. I can honestly say that I am ready to lay down my life for any of them, because I know in my heart that they will do the same for me.

I am not ashamed for what I do here in this baron country because I have absolutely no reason to be. For every Iraqi that we kill saves the lives of the innocent civilians both here in Iraq and back home in America. The only sad thing about it is that these Iraqi's deserve it more than most Americans.

America has now grown to be a cesspool of hypocrisy. While young college students enjoy their privilege of gaining education, they criticize this war, a war they no nothing about. How can someone criticize something of which they know nothing about? Why would they? Do they not love their country?

I can only believe that if these critics would come over here for a few weeks and live the daily life of an Iraqi, surely they would understand how blessed they are. They would see that the world is filled with tyranny and that someone has to step up and speak for those without a voice. Their cries go unheard to you but not to me, for I weep in the night with them and pray that the evil men who cause so much pain here will meet my bullet head on and be no more.

I see the news from home and it makes me want to vomit. People that have the privilege of calling themselves Americans are protesting me and my brothers in arms. They say that they support us but not our cause. Well I say that they are hypocrites and that if they truly care about us they will shut their mouths. They feel they are worthy to speak on my behalf? They are cowards, men and women who enjoy freedom, but they treat it as if it is their right, and not their privilege. Those hypocrites, is freedom not worth fighting for? How about the freedom of others? Is it not worth fighting for?

No, they do not deserve freedom, yet my brothers and sisters and I give it to them. If it were not for us, America would not be free. It is not the technology, the bombs and planes that keep you safe. It is the men and women who are brave enough to fire them that keep you safe. It is the American Soldier, the Marine, the Sailor or the Airman who keeps you safe. Look at your children, their lives would be different without us wouldn't they?

Hypocrites, oh how I cannot stand thee. As I walk these streets of Baghdad, I see those in need of your freedoms. They only wish they could have a voice as loud as yours, the freedom to say what they believe. But still they do not have that right, that which should be owned by every living person, the right to chose and say what they feel and not have to live in fear. Oh how they wish they could be you, you hypocrites.

I see them smiling at me, young and old. I see them listening as Chaplains preach, in complete awe of his words and of the stories he tells. They have no idea about Christianity, for all they know is what they have been taught.

I saw a man, his hatred for us was so strong that I could feel it burning as he stared at me through those evil, ever hating eyes of his. When a mortar hit him, a mortar which was fired by his comrades, he cried out for help, in fear and in pain. I did not refuse him help, but I showed mercy on him and helped save his life. I did this because I know that he did not know any better. He did not live very long after that due to the severity of his wounds. Still up until his last breath he cried out in apology for his actions and his hate. I was there for him, holding his hand until the end. I ask you this America, what do you know about this war?

My daughter will be taught differently, I can assure you this. She will not live her life in service to ignorance, but will learn the values a true Christian and a true American she will be. As for the rest of you, go ahead and hate me and this article, disagree with what I say and continue to complain about your blessed lives. Continue to ridicule your President while you make excuses for the black drug dealer who sells his product to children.

My Lord Jesus Christ shed his blood for people of all Nations. My fellow Americans, you are not the only ones who deserve this freedom, and all though you are unwilling to sacrifice or open your minds and hearts, I am, and prepared and honored am I to give my life for such a cause.

You Hypocrites.

Actually, what I've been thinking for a while is that they are against war, not the reasons for war or the people fighting in the war. I myself don't think that war is the extreme that America should take, but if it's been started, it might as well end as it should. Don't get me wrong, I support the people brave enough to possibly die to keep America safe, but is war really the extreme we have to take for it?

By "they", I mean the college students.

This is the first time I have been able to see the war through the eyes of a soldier. Thank you for writing this article.
God bless you and may He bring you back home safely.

I was surprised at how this article hit me. Believe me, I am neither a fan of war nor of many US actions, but this is the first time the first time that war took on a new face for me, and I for one, am ashamed of how I have taken my freedom for granted.

Thank you for this article, Armywriter!
