The Naive Democrats

How can a house divided against itself stand?

I vote for Republicans not because they are saints. In fact in recent history, despite all their professed love for capitalistic ideals, nobody had done so much harm to this country's economy as the Republican presidents.

Their blind obsession in fighting Russians went to the extremes that Nixon enriched Chinese instead of Americans, Reagan spent millions on good-for-nothing small fries and the Bushes went after mirages and dervishes in the desert.

Still I have to vote for them because I have no other worthwhile choice.

But what were the Democrats doing all those days?

If they were not practicing kama sutra, you were sure to find them willingly falling into the traps conveniently dug for them by the Republicans. Or they would be stoning their own glass citadel of a party bringing it down.

And their vote bank of varied hues and conflicting demands working at cross purposes, made their self-destructive pursuits easier.

They were only too willing to stepfather the illegitimate offsprings left by Republican mismanagement.

That is understandable. While they made heroic postures for their constituents outside, they went inside the Capitol building and raised their hands to pass all the Republican proposals hands down. So they cannot escape their responsibility. If it was beyond their control, they should have told the people at least what is happening then and there. No point in telling all that in the eleventh hour of an election year.

As for unity, it is not a Democratic attribute. With EVERY ONE of them created by God in the image of future American Presidents at birth, it is natural to fight till the last among themselves. How can a house so divided stand against Republicans?

I was not surprised when Howard Dean was felled down by a carefully planted questioner in his meeting. And then they made him the party boss so that he won't be a competitor again.

Even today he is the only one Democrat who can be a match to Republicans.

I was not surprised when their President was felled by a smuggled-in intern in the White House.

I was not surprised when not even one son of a Democrat questioned the intern's lawyer when the latter revealed that the legal fees were being paid by "anonymous well-wishers." Instead all of them went in hiding fearing a guy called Kenneth Starr.

Why should I vote for a party that has no unity among themselves and willingly fall into the traps set by their opponents?

Until a third, worthwhile alternative is available to Americans, we have no choice but to choose the better out of the only two bad choices at hand.

"Who will bring me into the strong city? Who will lead me into Edom?"

Not the un-united, suicidal Democrats any way. Republicans may be.
