I would love to vote. I would love to vote for a sheriff, or a city council member, or maybe for a mayor, perhaps for a Governor, and to be really ambitious…for a President! But, alas, I do not, and will not vote.
I know, I know,
“Voting is important. You cannot complain if you do not exercise your right to vote!”
Unfortunately, for this wise giver of advice, I will not vote, and I will in fact complain about it!
From my local city council to the hierarchy of the Presidential office, I find no candidate worthy of my pick. The individuals running for these offices seem distant , made-up, and as charismatic as the delegate to their right (pardon the pun). As I struggle to fuel my car and gain an education, they preach change and prosperity with no details or usable facts! I try my best to listen to debates, hoping to find a silver lining in the dark cloud of the political void, only to hear opposition bashing with no straight answers and even worse questions. I just feel that the politicians seeking office live in a unrealistic realm of the universe where down-to-earth problems don't exist.
Perhaps I am pessimistic. A little negative? I do not know. I don't expect the pot hole in my town to be filled, but it wouldn't hurt to receive some actual platform details. Sure, I care about the war, and people starving in other countries; however, my reality lies in home town survival and community concerns. I'm not searching for a savior or the next messiah, I just want a grounded politician who makes sense…someone whom with I can connect! I'm not longing for inspiration, I'm listening for substance.
My voice will be heard when I hear a voice worthy of listening.
