They are not only blue wild flowers growing on snow topped mountains. You can have a gifted adult as your neighbor who mows the lawn on a Saturday morning.
Intelligence is a complicated concept and there will always be differences of opinion. To accept there will never be a single definition of giftedness might be a clear way in understanding what it means. Eminence in a particular field of interest? Highly developed compassion and understanding of what ought to be? A Genius in working with numbers and puzzles?
One characteristic of gifted adults is that almost all of them feel like appleoranges. To feel that different can be a lonely devestating space and it represents a scary bananaberry jail which is forever feared. Gifted people are sometimes treated for the strangest psycho illnesses instead of treating others with their golden insight and wild flower essence. A nation within a nation, who rarely finds mutual friends and like minded souls to share the anxiety they feel about the world's current state of beingness. To have great but unutilized abilities is like winning the lotto and giving it back. What is the point?
A great question raised by gifted researchers:”Giftedness, a blessing or a curse?” It more or less describes their internal world of measuring and defining themselves. Gifted adults are a bit of everything, and it makes things more complicated when the appleorange starts growing like grapes on a vine. The overall idea of seeing more than”more” and feeling more than “more” sounds ridiculous but so did traveling to space and landing on the moon. If you want to feel gifted then try locking yourself in a room for three days without food, water or sleep. Maybe you will discover that there are certain energy particles within the earth's atmosphere that can be caught in a container (one that you will invent) that can be used to cure cancer. Your mother might try to send you to an institution for some time but don't give up, chances are you will go to the bananberry jail which might be worse in your case!
One thing is for sure, its not always heaven on earth for these rare but everywhere human beings to have really great Idea's. Just think of the men who invented the first airplane. After encountering many problems with their first attempt they predicted that man will probably not fly in their lifetime. A few years thereafter their idea became a reality, but they went through all kinds of humiliation and public disbelief. Lucky and convienient for us, they never gave up! Things would have been very different for the United Nations to send emergency aid to countries in need of relief. Then again, our ozone layer would still be smiling if it hadn't been for the Idea, which in turn produced an oscar winning documentary on Al Gore's campaign to make the issue of global warming a recognized problem worldwide. What “a Catch - a - 22 - evolution process” we've got going!
We are all different in many ways, we all have received beautiful gifts so that we may contribute to humanities existence. The fact that some souls received special gifts to help accomplish very difficult tasks is of great importance, therefore we should be on the lookout, receive them in love and support them in their larger than life quests. We must embrace their ways as right for them, preserve and even nurture their differences so that the appleoranges can rightfully have their space of respect among the rest of us.
