What Does Your Handwriting Analysis Reveal About You?

Handwriting analysis has been used as a tool for psychological testing, personality evaluation, and character assessment. Samples are used by some firms to evaluate applicants prior to employment or employees prior to promotion. They have also been used in forensics in order to assist in investigations, and detect forgeries.

What does your handwriting reveal about you? Take a blank piece of unlined paper out and write a couple of paragraphs. Do not forget to sign your name. The content of your writing is not relevant, but the style is.

Do you start your paragraph with a wide margin or small? Do you end with a wide margin or small? These are indications of your generosity. If you start wide and end narrow, you are not as generous as you would like to be. If both are wide, you are generous. If they are both narrow, you are not.

How do your letters slant? A forward slant, one that flows to the right indicates an expressive personality. One that slants backwards or to the left indicates one who is holding their feelings inside. If one presses hard on the paper while writing, and slants forward, the writer takes things to heart and holds onto their feelings for a long time. One who writes with a backward slant and barely presses on the paper would get over their emotional ties much quicker, so would not be a good choice for our forward slanting writer.

How did you write your first capital letter? First of all did you capitalize it? Capital letters should have a height of twice that of the lower case letters. When a writer signs his name, the amount of respect that he gives him or herself is indicated in the capital letters of the name.

Also the amount of respect allocated to other individuals would be displayed in the manner which their names are written. Are their frills or flourishes prior to the first capital letter? If so this may be an indication of a tendency to put off or delay tasks. Going directly into a capital letter shows the direct approach.

How are the “o”s closed? All “o” s remaining open can be a sign of openness and honesty, while “o” s knotted with no openings indicate a writer who is secretive and perhaps concealing something.

The way your “i”s are dotted can be a good indication of how closely you pay attention to detail. A dot directly over the “i” shows an individual who is very detail oriented. Another indication of the writer's attention to detail would be found in the size of the penmanship. A tiny letter calls for more attention to detail than a larger formed letter. A dot placed to the left of the stem shows procrastination and to the right an eagerness to move on to other matters. Someone who jabs at the “i” in order to dot it could be irritable, and if other indicators are present there could be a sign of anger or domineering.

Another indicator of a domineering individual could be seen in the crossing of the “t”.

A down slanted t-bar, with the crossing starting heavy and ending fine is an indication of one who is quick to anger, and domineering, especially if the crossing line does not cross the bar, but barely ends just prior to it. Crossing the “t” with an upward slant indicates optimism, and if the line in longer than needed it would also indicate enthusiasm.

The lower loops of consonants indicate the writer's sexual drive and energy levels, while the upper loops show their morality. A good balance is desirable.

Handwriting analysis is a fascinating art and can assist you in knowing yourself and others better. It may assist you in hiring the right candidate or selecting the best mate, or if nothing else can provide an interesting and insightful pastime.
