Winning the Lottery the Easy Way

Winning the lottery is a dream for many people. Being precise and realistic about the details of your dream may help you to WIN. This and other tips.

Most people think that multiple tickets improve their odds... True, it might, but not to the extent you think.

Suppose your odds are 1 in 100 on one ticket. That is fine. Most people think if they buy a second ticket, now their odds are 1 in 50. This is not the case. Your odds did not go up by half. In fact you only now have 1 more chance to win, so your odds really are 1 in 99. On your next ticket purchase, your odds would be 1 in 98, and so on, until you purchased every ticket and were guaranteed a win.

Now supposing you REALLY want to win, and supposing the Universe REALLY wants you to win, does having extra tickets make a difference? NOPE.. If the Universe wants you to win, you will win whether you have 1 ticket or a hundred. So save your money, and only buy one ticket.

Write down on a list what all your lottery dream purchases are. A house, a boat, a trip around the world. Then find out the real cost of these things. Add it up. Most people have no idea how far a million dollars (or pounds, or whatever) will really go. Most people have no idea how much their monthly expenses are NOW, let alone how much they will be in the future. You need to be able to determine exactly how much money you need to win. If you are in a country that taxes your winnings you also need to establish how much you need to win to actually have the money left over from taxes. Then only play the lottery when it reaches a jackpot that fits with your dreams.

Many people feel that "Prayer" will help them to win, but many religions view greed or gambling as wrong. Whether or not playing a small amount of money on the lottery is gambling ,or not, is up to a persons own convictions. However, if you are taking money away from spending it on food or housing, for yourself or family, then it is gambling and you should seek help to control yourself. If you are spending hundreds a week on the lottery then perhaps you would be better off investing in Mutual Funds or the Stock Market because you will probably get a better return for the risk.

What to buy?

We have determined you should not over spend and buy too many tickets, we have determined that you should only buy tickets when the jackpot is big enough to support your desires. But what numbers should you play? If you want to play with the same numbers every draw, then feel free to do so, however do not count on this to bring consistent wins. Odds are it won't happen. Instead you should play quick picks or random numbers from week to week. This will also save you some grief should your numbers come up on a week you were unable to buy a ticket with regular numbers. If I had a dollar for every time I have heard somebody remark about how their numbers came up when they forgot to get a ticket I would not need to play the lottery.
If your lottery has bonus features or extra options, you should take advantage of them if they are affordable. Try to become familiar with what draws have what odds for what pay offs and select accordingly. Is it worth it to risk your money for a small return or to risk the same money for a bigger one?

Gratitude vs Promises

A common thread among lottery players is they think they will be rewarded with a win if they say "When I win, I am going to give so much to this or that.". They promise all kinds of things, money to charity, to the poor, to friends and family. They are convinced that this will some how find them in favor of the Universe and they should be showered with winnings one day.

In fact most lottery winners cannot keep every promise they have made, and some have even been sued on the basis of promises. Making promises will not help you win the lottery. It will only gain you enemies if, when you do win, you do not keep every promise.
What is better is for you to keep track of every good thing that has happened to you. Most people prefer to keep track of "good things" they have done. Bragging about "good things" you have done sort of defeats doing them. If you brag about any thing you have done for charity, it is no longer out of the goodness of your heart, it is for bragging rites, and ego purposes. When you desire to do "good things" it puts a negative slant, because in order for you to do a "good thing", something bad must befall somebody first. You cannot help somebody if they do not need to be helped so you are attracting negative energy to somebody else simply so you can feel good about helping them. This concept is really not as much of a paradox as it might seem at first glance. It's actually very simple. Do NOT mix your desire to win the lottery or any game of chance with thoughts of "helping others". This is not fair to them or to yourself. If you want to help, for instance starving Children in Africa, then do it regardless of, and before your lottery win. The universe does not reward vain promises. This is not to say that you should not help out when you do win, just that you should not wish for the opportunity to help somebody out.

When you WIN

Regardless of how big your win is. Keep a list of how much you won, even the smallest amount. This is part of the Gratitude. When you win big, get a lawyer, financial advisor, and DO NOT make promises to anybody. Get your check in hand and in the bank. Draft up a plan for yourself and family before you start giving away money or making offers to others. If anyone in your family is to be a major benefactor of your winnings try to set it up in advance of collecting the prize (as your lawyer will advise based on the tax laws in your country). Put away a sizable amount for the future. There is nothing more pathetic than a bankrupt lottery winner. Make sure this money had the ability to pay you monthly income.

Using these methods I have been very successful at winning a majority of the times I play the lottery. I find I am winning more than I am spending. I hope you have similar success too. Here I might add that hoping others have success, is very important to your own. There can be abundance for everyone. Believe in that, and it is created it in the "Material World".

Well done! However, I purchase the advance play for 10 draws on 2 lotteries (5 weeks each in FL) because I don't want to forget an opportunity to engage in a chance event. My success rate is surprisingly good, winning regularly...just small stuff...but then, I don't have any delusions about winning the "big one". This is recreational fun that doesn't break the bank.

The only thing I can say about gambling and prayer, gotta tell you, the church I belong to regularly has a 50/50 game of chance -- a lottery by any other name -- and so do many others. So recently if I put in a $100 ticket I had a chance of winning $10,000 in one of these. The odds were good. I didn't enter it, of course, because I don't have that kind of money to spend, no matter how good the cause, or what the odds are. That kind money would really hurt paying my bills and eating. So, I've read a lot of blogs and such where people say God frowns upon gambling. Well, then all these churches should stop promoting it, they should get rid of the bingo nights and all the other gambling. I'm sure people are praying to win when they gamble on something their church is sponsoring. Kind of hypocritical and very confusing.

I loved reading your entry. It's common sense and smart. I like the idea of "keeping track of good things you've done" or "bragging about them." If anything was totally against Christ's words, this is it. He specifically talks about anonymous giving.

Sorry Mark but your maths are fundamentally wrong!

Using your approach for a ticket with odds of 1 in 3. If you buy two tickets the odds clearly are 2 in 3 (and not 1 in 2 as you appear to be suggesting!).

Fortunately not understanding the maths doesn't hurt your chances of winning ;-)

Mark,
Your article makes an awful lot of common sense. Unfortunatly most people who play the lottery have no common sense..For one thing its all chance. I wish people would stop asking God to be a gambling partner with them, I do not think this is what God does..I have won many games of chance in my life, nothing real big, but I will tell you this, always after I submit to the game of chance, I get a feeling I cannot describe, deep within, just a day before I win, that I will win..!! I say nothing to no one, and sure enough, it happens..People wouldn't belive me if I told tham how it happened...
Mark do you believe some people are born lucky, and some are not? I was told it was because Jupiter the beneficial planet was in my Native sign of Aquarius..I find gold and jewelry and always some one to help me just in the nick of time..lol..Laura
