Last February 11, 2003, there was a symposium held in our school; and, the guest speakers are the loving couples, Mr. Tiuburcio Evalle and Mrs. Vangie Evalle of Edu-Child. The topic covers the long - term relationship between a man and a woman. The Senior Executive Committee is the one who organized this symposium.
Mrs. Vangie Evalle initiated to ask us questions what is the meaning of love. But, she defined that love has many definitions and it is depended on a person's ideology of love. She enumerated the four series of the process of relationship: acquaintanceship, friendship, courtship, commitment, and marriage.
Then, the next speaker, Mr. Tiburcio Evalle gave some tips to the male students on what is the proper way of courting a girl. Of course, the Philippines has a conservative and traditional culture which is influenced by the Spaniard during their colonization hundred years ago. He said that it is better to get to know the girl better because in choosing a lifetime partner begins at courtship.
Here are some Dating Tips:
- Do not wear offensive perfumes because it is a turn off to your dating partner.
- Wear modest and proper dress and less make-up. Being simple and modest is attractive among the guys, and you will be treated decently.
- Males should wear proper dress code instead of hip hop dress code because the parents of their dating partner would be scared to let their daughters go out with them if they are wearing gangsta's dress code.
- Whenever you go out for dinner, always remember the table manners.
- For both genders, first impression lasts during the date.
For the girls, always try to dress and act decently. And, it is true that date rape exists so you should be careful in choosing the person who is going to be your date. You should know that person very well before you are going out with him.
Mrs. Vangie Evalle reminded the young people to wait until marriage to have sex with the partner. Instead of having a good future with planned career, your life would be a mess because of unwanted pregnancy. And, some other girls prefer to abort their babies, and it is a wrong decision because it is not physically healthy, and it is also a sin.
The couples also reminded us that we should not be hurried in choosing the partner in life. We should be careful in choosing a lifetime partner because it is a long-term committed relationship. I believe in what they said for it is true. Life is really hard. We should not expect life as a fantasy world we create. We should weigh the facts before jumping into conclusion in making decisions for life.
