Between Men and Women

The difference in men and women improves relationships eventually.

Do you think that men and women think and communicate differently? In most cases, it's always the case where the communication between men and women varies, especially when it comes to understanding a same situation. Men and women may sometimes be living in different worlds, and that is how I see it.

Between men and women, women use language primarily to create intimacy and connections to other people. For women, language is the glue that holds relationships together. Men, however, use language mainly to convey information. For men, activities are the things that hold people together, and in the absence of doing something with others, talking about an activity is the next best thing. For men, language and information are used to attain status and not intimacy.

It also occurs to me that women usually are looking for agreement and mutual understanding especially in cases where women engaged in “trouble talks” talking about their problems. Women would usually mention a similar problem if one brings up or mention a particular problem. However, men would more likely to offer advise or solution when one brings up or mention of a particular problem.

By understanding the differences in men and women when it comes to language and thinking process, then only will both men and women co-exist peacefully and lovingly. It is sometimes the these gender differences that helps improves the relationships between men and women in our diverse society today.

Is this the backwardness of the 1950's? "Men communicate information" and women don't?
